  1. A challenge for the builders of hypothetical locomotives. What if Churchward had pursued the idea of a mixed traffic 4-6-0 before World War I? Sort of an Edwardin Hall:
  2. Slightly more than an alternate livery this one, and delving back into history a bit. In 1926, the LMS contemplated either borrowing the drawings for the GWR's Castle Class or ordering some directly from the GWR. In the event neither happened, but I have always wondered what the results (particularly the latter arrangement) might have looked like. Here we have my attempt to sketch an LMS Crimson Castle with Derby touches applied...
  3. Perhaps there's not so much justice, your name doesn't appear, it's a new article, but the technique is yours, either reborn or reinvented. Personally, I think the Modeller is the poorer for you absence - I always enjoyed "In Search of Realism" and learned a great deal..
  4. Allan, Have a look at the article commencing on page 542 of the July Railway Modeller. Your wool thatch is back! Cheers, Paul.
  5. Allan, Just saw the photos of the Chester Rows in Model Rail. Magic as always - you've not lost the touch even if ageing eyes are starting to play tricks.... Am beginning to experience a bit of that myself!
  6. Agreed Bluebottle, Allan's work is pure magic as always. Remembering youthful days spent helping my grandfather, something of a cabinet maker, I reminded that craftsmanship and bodgery do sometimes go together though...in the best possible way.
  7. Allan, I remember using your wool and flock method on a cottage and barn scene..... In the early 80's. Was very pleased with the results too... Cheers, Paul.
