  1. I've used Lenz LS150 point decoders with Kato unitrack points and Roco Multimaus/SPROG/NCE PowerCab, the trick is to use diodes on the - and + terminals for each of the accessory outputs. For a better explanation see these YouTube videos (which are where I got the idea): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9g5YjTPqou4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H3k0S4ENIkA I don't know if this is a particularly economical solution - I bought the LS150s over a decade ago for around £30each and they seem to be closer to £60 now. Also to keep the plug and play convenience I decided to try and retain the existing Kato wiring. Then found that 3rd party Tamiya connectors from ebay aren't necessary compatible with Kato's Tamiya connectors so I gave up making my own extension leads and cannibalised Kato 24-841 Point Extension Cables. Anyway, it is another choice Alex
  2. For the 47s I've used Digitrains LS8X12 8OHM EXTRA SMALL CUBE SPEAKER The models have quite deep fuel tank mouldings and once enough metal was removed from the chassis I was able to fit the speakers unmodified. In my 37s (which are hard-wired so far) I used LS10x15S SPEAKER 10X15X9 but had to cut down the speaker enclosure height by around 2mm to get them to fit. Apart from removing metal inside the fuel tanks I filed channels for the speaker wires so that the bodies fitted properly. I also removed the thick plastic insulation from the decoder and replaced it with Kapton insulation tape, this probably saves 1mm all round. Having shorted out speaker connections in the past I'd recommend wrapping the speakers and their connections in Kapton tape too. The speakers are held in place with some Black Tac. I'd definitely encourage you to go ahead Alex
  3. Hi Paul I have done exactly as you suggest in two 47s, using Zimo MX649N decoders. Once in place there are a couple of mm to spare for the speaker wires. With the 37s I think you'd have to remove one of the cab interiors to make space. Cheers Alex
  4. Looks like it, but in fact it's deliberate, so that the top arrow points towards the bow on both sides - see http://www.crwflags.com/FOTW/FLAGS/gb_brail.html#sea Cheers Alex PS Carl this is a brilliant thread, watching the progress of this model is really inspiring.
