    Oh? What’s this?

Yep! I’ve bought another! Front end is totally f&ck3d and it has the other usual acetate Princess quirks (such as the running board getting slimmer towards the middle), tender is in good nick though… Any ideas besides going to another Prairie bash?

Do a "Hush-Hush"? Nice and simple with my Template.

    Or, a cab-forward/camel-back type!

  2. Safety valve bonnets. I have used the green bit from poppies, with a piece of plastic from the hole punch glued on top, and push in peg board pins, the tall ones, cut down a bit. A "Wood push pins" set from Am@zon come in lots of lovely shapes which could be suitable for boiler mounts, buffers, sand boxes etc, 114 pieces for £9. Brass thumb tacks, plastic peg board pegs, all different types great for modelling and cheap too.

    That Princess Coronation reminds me...

We've already discussed The Repair Shop, there's now The Repair Shop - Australia on Quest.

The first prog had a 3-rail Dublo "Flying Scotsman" in for repair which was done - it looked suspiciously like a Duchess running as an 0-6-0!

Yes, it bugged me that in the initial intro of the suitcase, you can see the bogie and the tender for the Duchess. But, the brief was followed, and no one was a died in the wool enthusiast so it didn't bother them as much as us! Just nice to see a young lad getting so much pleasure from grandads old trains.

This rather kills off the idea that ANY entry level modelling, is better than going to a shop and buying the latest highly detailed new model.

No! If you ain't got the money, and it works for you, great, your modelling! Just get a hacksaw from the shed and some glue and all will be well. AND your taking the next step...

  5. Often wondered about cutting it down, just in front of the radiator and behind the cab then reattaching the buffer beams, with simple wire loop coupling bar. May help to anglicise it more and improve the proportions. One day....

Don't forget to glaze, and crew, the cab!

  6. Couldn't use my arm whilst off sick but, could use a finger (oo-er!)...and bought the train sets i always wanted. Average price was around £30 each. The artwork always did it for me!20240419_142003.jpg.9e55bc913b8b3cba48ef118eb1fa2aab.jpg20240419_143433.jpg.4e7bc146a603333e57d8f9385653b67e.jpg20240419_142208.jpg.dfde65174883c4e11937590978f07528.jpg20240419_142831.jpg.f1d804a20931dbbee37738133392cd46.jpg20240419_144033.jpg.8a7a63a7f348deaedbfa9fc8e364f615.jpg20240419_144151.jpg.b51952ebd18bb69c622c930848806253.jpg20240419_144233.jpg.c2fd0462320ef55a85044e400faf5b9b.jpg20240419_143044.jpg.608fce2d12868c8baad99f70dd4f5c69.jpg20240419_143134.jpg.5933e1bbe745090b8b357e71261277be.jpg

Tooth pain, is there any worse pain?

Try a restricted nerve. I would happily swap. After my NHS dentist retired, I went looking for a new one. No dice. All full up. Nearest vacant, 159 miles away! And then they closed/merged. Looked at private prices nearby and was surprised that for most work, it was a third more expensive than I was paying for NHS treatment. (Yes, no free for me!) I can book and be seen within the week, the service is excellent, the building is beautiful. (Not relevant but true and there is an interesting library!) and I can walk along the beach to get there in 20 minutes. 3 monthly check ups keep the big bills at bay and a tin on the side pays for them if they do. I had 2 check ups, 4 x-rays, full tooth enamel clean/whitening. £250. £39 cheaper than my last NHS  appointment. May be expensive to some, but shop around. Just happens they were the best for me after a lot of searching, and don't leave it 10 years!

are here and here (I haven't got around to making the streamliner available for sale yet

That's the kind of thing that could reinvigorate the trade. I love it, kids should love it, roaring around at 100mph! A shed full, in all different colours, eye-catching too. As a body/tender "kit", keeping costs low, and/or to be the add-on to juniors first train set, even as an armoured train, to introduce the "vintage classics" kits to a child's play, and making the triptych of rail, road and air!

Could, at a stretch, encourage learning if the packaging had a potted history of the real thing and suggested liveries and other products to incorporate in play, like the old Matchbox kit boxes that used every surface for information and were artistic and genius.
