  1. My Wallet is fairly safe from this lot. I might or might not consider the Ivatt in Black late emblem. To be honest that is the combination I really wanted when i bought 46400. Do I turn that into a 78XXX, which was more common around Stranraer. I know it will cost a lot more than the £58 Hattons charged me for my pre-order of the original! If the SR utility is a duplicate of the Dapol - no purchase as I have 2 of those. My Thompson BG is already on order from NGS, with the deposit paid. I will however want for spares box the traction tyres for the Ivatt, Std 5 and the Duchess - which will cost c £20 I guess.

The early crest 46460 is a scottish beast...

  2. To judge from photos the knobs on the real thing were almost horizontal. I still think this is a technical issue - models with cast boilers have horizontal handrail knobs, models with plastic boilers have them at the correct angle. Presumably it's connected to the fact that injection moulds can open in a much more complex way than metal moulds. (CJL)

The Farish 04 in N gauge has a cast body and handrails at an angle...

  4. Wrong size, wrong region, right era. Tell me why I want it! Quite honestly I would love it from my heart but like you I enjoy building over playing. I wish you luck with the sale, if I had more disposable money at the mo it might have nudged me over to 4mm! The thought of building its extension tempts me somewhat...

  5. Just thinking about my 'little' layouts and would I coundier them 'micro'

I think the 'micro' definition is a state of mind rather than a physical state. I design all of my layouts using the same 'micro' mentality and generally have the same reaction regardless of actual size...

  6. I have a swallow HST bookset on preorder I am in two minds to cancel because I don't want to be stuffed by the wrong colour. If they have cocked this up whats to say they haven't cocked up the others.

Things like the grilles on the 56 i can overlook, because to me, its still a 56 underneath. mismatched colours within a train, sorry, as a colourist in the plastics industry thats a big no from me Dapol
