  1. Thanks for the reply John. Will take a look at the galleries on the site
  2. Hi Duncan. Thank you for the information. It sounds like 402 had the black boxes and red beams very early on especially April 1986. Thanks for your help.
  3. Please can anyone assist with advise regarding 37 402 "Oor Wullie". I would like to know roughly when the loco had the red buffer beams and black headcodes applied while it was painted in large logo blue back in the 80s??
  4. Hi Harlequin Thank you for the reply and lead. Have just been in contact with Layouts4u and ordered a pack of 3 of the exact lamps required. Thanks for the lead and help. Much appreciated Regards Paul Warden
  5. Hi I am sending this message to see if anyone out in the RM world can help. This weekend I was exhibiting my layout "St Johns" at a show in a hall that was broken into which was not a nice thing to hear on arrival on the Saturday morning. The dust covers over the layout had been pulled by the intruders and in doing so a lamp on the quayside was broken and found on the floor. I was lucky to get away with this limited damage but the problem I have is no retailers have any of the lamps in stock to enable the repair in readiness for its next outing. The lamp I require is the Gaugemaster / DCC concepts GWR oil lamp with the wide square head (DCC concepts ref DML GWRO). I am appealing to see if anyone has a spare from a pack they haven't used which I would gladly purchase to complete the repair. Please see image below of the type required Thank you for reading this and hopefully someone can assist Regards Paul Warden
  6. Looking forward to taking St Johns to the St Johns show. It will be running as Great Western 1931 on Saturday and BR Western 1959 on Sunday. Relive the summer holidays of the steam era in South Devon

  10. Unfortunately due to staff commitments the Midland Railex model exhibition at the Midland Railway Butterley due to be held in August 2018 has been cancelled. It is with regret that this information is being released and we will revue the show to see if it can be revived in 2019. We would like to thank all the visitors to the show and support over the 7 years we have held this event. Midland Railex team
  11. Hi The driver for a fiver with the Peckett proved very popular. We would like to have this available again next year and it is planned. Lots of happy faces after having a go!! Paul Railex Team
  12. Hi All I would like to say thank you to all who visited this years Midland Railex show and welcome feedback from the event. It is nice to hear that the selected layouts proved popular as this is always a hard task picking exhibits. Without any doubt we knew that Oulton TMD would be popular as would Rowntree halt and Kirkby Stephen.+ Next years show is already coming together with the superb N gauge Loch Tat booked to attend which is another top exhibit along with other top layouts. We apologise for timetables not being on general display. This was due to the actual working timetable not being completed until late on Thursday because of a problem with one of the locomotives which resulted in the whole thing having to be rewritten! We did chalk up the train times on the notice board at Swanwick Junction advising of 'Next Train to...' to help but aim to have the times printed and displayed next year with all the departures either way from Swanwick Junction shown make it easier for you to plan your visit. The Railex team will be getting together over the next few weeks to have a post show meeting and welcome new ideas being put forward to build this popular show. If you have any ideas then please post ideas on here for us to pick up and take on board. Also any layout owners out there that would like to attend can also contact us. The team are going to have a break now for a couple of weeks but will be on hand through RMweb to reply to any suggestions etc. Once again a big thank you to all the visitors, exhibitors, demonstrators, loco and operational crews, signalmen, station booking office staff, catering staff, GVLR staff, static power staff, road transport musuem staff, 4x4 response, the MRB management and all the hard working stewards. Regards Paul Railex Team
  13. Hi All We are now able to confirm the morning train times departing from Butterley for this weekends show. Shuttles will start at 09.30 with full line running starting with the 11.25 service. Shuttles will then start in the afternoon at 15.45. Butterley Depart 09.30 Locomotive 47 401 Butterley Depart 10.00 Locomotive 45 041 + D6501 Butterley Depart 10.25 Locomotive 5619 + 47 401 Butterley Depart 10.50 Locomotive 45 041 + D6501 Butterley Depart 11.25 Locomotive 5619 (this will be the first service running full line) The same diagrams will operate Sunday with the same locomotives allocated. The last shuttle departs from Swanwick at 16.45 on each day Please note that for operational reasons the trains will pass through Butterley station to Hammersmith and then return to form the next shuttle. This is due to the token needed to be worked through to Hammersmith before the trains can return to Swanwick and takes only 6 minutes. Afternoon shuttles will stop at Butterley to allow passengers to depart before continuing to Hammersmith. We look forward to seeing you at the show and thank you for supporting us. The show raises funds to support the railways many projects. Railex Team
  14. Hi Pete I have just checked and MERG are located in the HMRS building located next to the museum. Railex Team
  15. Hi All A further update for the Midland Railex at Butterley August 12th / 13th Unfortunately due to reasons beyond their control Invicta Model Rail have had to pull out from this years show. We have been fortunate to find an Alternative trader to the show and look forward to Ravenstone Models attending. Not long now to the show. We look forward to seeing many of you at the show and hope you all have an enjoyable time. Railex Team
  16. Hi We do not have a special shuttle bus but there are regular service buses from Derby to Ripley which pass the station at Butterley. Please contact the Midland railway booking office on 01773 747674 who will be able to advise on times etc and also if the station at Langley Mill would be a better option
  17. Hi Everyone Further update for this years Midland Railex show. We can now confirm another visiting layout which is 'Westbrook'. N gauge BR late 80s / early 90s 'sectorisation' period. Also hot news, we can now confirm the visiting diesel locomotive will be BR class 33 number D6501 (33 002) from the South Devon Railway. This is a superb class 33 being restored to as near original condition and painted in as built BR green without yellow panels and no high intensity headlights!! The locomotive roster for the Railex weekend will be:- 56xx ex GW 0-6-2 tank n' 5619 (Unlined BR black) Class 33 n' D6501 (BR Green) Class 45 n' 45 041 'Royal Tank Regiment' (BR Blue) Class 47 n 47 401 'North Eastern' (BR Blue) Also resident 0-4-0 Peckett saddle tank 'Whitehead' will be working from Butterley across the reservoir to Hammersmith on 'Driver for a fiver' runs. A good chance for all to get to drive a steam locomotive!! It is hoped that 0-4-0 saddle tank 'Lytham St Annes' will also be in steam We are now in the final stages with the show and would like to see as many people as possible visit the show which ensures the future of this popular event and aids the railway with much needed funds. Thank you 'The Railex team'
