Great updates, will you be including any 0-4-0's or 0-6-0s? As you colour scheme would look great on a short wheel basis loco.

Great photo of the line up you have, this thread does certainly gives some great inspiration

Great progress

Hello everyone,
Work has started on board No4 (see the next post), and we have worked out that it's possible to have 2 layouts in one, let me explain....
This pic of boxes and numbers should help,
The numbers below correspond to the numbers in the boxes above,
1) the fiddle yard that we currently have.
2) the station section that we currently have ("Durham railway")
3) board 3 is the small viaduct/bridge that belongs to board 2 ("Durham railway")
4) features an embankment with road bridge
5) end fiddle yard
Then here's the other layout ("Evenwood")
1) uses the same fiddle yard from "Durham railway"
2) a new board will be built featuring "Evenwood" station
3) another new board will be built featuring a plain embankment.
4) the same board that features an embankment and road bridge can be used for both "Evenwood" and "Durham Railway"
5) the end fiddle yard can be used for both Evenwood and Durham railway.
So what this means is that don't need to make another 5 boards for "Evenwood" we can use 3 boards for both "Evenwood" and "Durham Railway" meaning that only 2 unique boards need to be made for Evenwood, hopefully that didn't melt your brains and that you understand? When the layouts are complete then it will be easier to explain.
The reason why we are doing this is to save on storage space and dad wants an exact replica of evenwood station,
Thanks
Nelson
Ps: don't worry if you don't understand, once it's all complete then all will hopefully be clear.
Interesting idea, you could also have the following scenario if done correctly.
1) the fiddle yard that we currently have.
2) the station section that we currently have ("Durham railway")
3) board 3 is the small viaduct/bridge that belongs to board 2 ("Durham railway")
4) another new board will be built featuring a plain embankment (Evenwood)
5) features an embankment with road bridge
6) end fiddle yard
means you could have 6 boards

So now I am planning to add another station, Great Barford, which is the interchange point with the LMS & LNER, is the terminus of the "main" line from the Kettering iron ore quarries (the original purpose of the line) and is the location of the "works" - the Crewe of Bedfordshire!
Sounds great, will you be having interchange sidings aswell as a station?
-
sounds good, look forward to that kit
-
Sounds like a good idea, you could have the a small junction for the private owners line joining the mainline with a Signal box and a set of catch points.
-
What Donor Chassis does that loco use?
-
Great looking progress, nice see the scenery section coming along. I agree with daniel8910 perhaps adding a turntable and a road going on to the mainline could be added, it would certainly add extra operating movements.
Or
Your could add perhaps a goods yard to go with the station instead.

Julian, what locomotives and stock do you run on the layout?
-
Great looking layout, very smart and well presented
-
My first thought would be that the decoders fitted to these locos do not support read-back of CV values, so when your Powercab tried to do this, and it failed, it then assumed there was a short.
Ive had the same issue, and had been searching today for a solution. Ive decided to replace the encoder altogether, although im some what confused as why the Junior has 3 wires going to the motor, any idea why this would be?

Great thread, certainly very inspirational

Hi Andy
Thank you for your comment, yes there is an extension baseboard already built, but no track or scenery has been started yet. it will be hopefully ready for an exhibition in April next year.
Thanks
Nelson
Good to hear about the extension, cant wait to see what you come up with. I hope you add a scenic section board that i think would work well
-
Great video, the quality of the video is fine. Are you intending to add an extension to the layout?
-
Great to hear of a New shop opening in Chester, good luck with the new shop.

Thanks for the information

Great looking models

No website, I'm afraid, although I have had perfectly adequate dealings with him by post.
Thats a shame, does anyone have his current contact details?
-
fantastic weathering, once i get my layouts electrics and scenery sorted. I hope to do some myself.
-
I have to say thats a nice looking shunting layout, i guess having the locos set at DCC helps maintain a slower speed.
-
Just in case nobody else has mentioned it, Dean Sidings do a Killin Pug body etc to convert Smokey Joe.
Do Dean Siding have a website? Tried searching on Google, no luck as of yet.

This a inspirational thread, keep up the great work
