  1. Hello everyone,

Work has started on board No4 (see the next post), and we have worked out that it's possible to have 2 layouts in one, let me explain....

This pic of boxes and numbers should help,

    attachicon.gifimage.jpg

The numbers below correspond to the numbers in the boxes above,

    1) the fiddle yard that we currently have.

    2) the station section that we currently have ("Durham railway")

    3) board 3 is the small viaduct/bridge that belongs to board 2 ("Durham railway")

    4) features an embankment with road bridge

    5) end fiddle yard

Then here's the other layout ("Evenwood")

    1) uses the same fiddle yard from "Durham railway"

    2) a new board will be built featuring "Evenwood" station

    3) another new board will be built featuring a plain embankment.

    4) the same board that features an embankment and road bridge can be used for both "Evenwood" and "Durham Railway"

    5) the end fiddle yard can be used for both Evenwood and Durham railway.

So what this means is that don't need to make another 5 boards for "Evenwood" we can use 3 boards for both "Evenwood" and "Durham Railway" meaning that only 2 unique boards need to be made for Evenwood, hopefully that didn't melt your brains and that you understand? When the layouts are complete then it will be easier to explain.

The reason why we are doing this is to save on storage space and dad wants an exact replica of evenwood station,

    Thanks

    Nelson

Ps: don't worry if you don't understand, once it's all complete then all will hopefully be clear.

Interesting idea, you could also have the following scenario if done correctly.

    1) the fiddle yard that we currently have.

    2) the station section that we currently have ("Durham railway")

    3) board 3 is the small viaduct/bridge that belongs to board 2 ("Durham railway")

    4) another new board will be built featuring a plain embankment (Evenwood)

    5) features an embankment with road bridge

    6) end fiddle yard

means you could have 6 boards  :sungum:

  2. So now I am planning to add another station, Great Barford, which is the interchange point with the LMS & LNER, is the terminus of the "main" line from the Kettering iron ore quarries (the original purpose of the line) and is the location of the "works" - the Crewe of Bedfordshire!

Sounds great, will you be having interchange sidings aswell as a station?

  3. Great looking progress, nice see the scenery section coming along. I agree with daniel8910 perhaps adding a turntable and a road going on to the mainline could be added, it would certainly add extra operating movements.

    Or

Your could add perhaps a goods yard to go with the station instead.

  4. My first thought would be that the decoders fitted to these locos do not support read-back of CV values, so when your Powercab tried to do this, and it failed, it then assumed there was a short.

Ive had the same issue, and had been searching today for a solution. Ive decided to replace the encoder altogether, although im some what confused as why the Junior has 3 wires going to the motor, any idea why this would be?

  5. Hi Andy

Thank you for your comment, yes there is an extension baseboard already built, but no track or scenery has been started yet. it will be hopefully ready for an exhibition in April next year.

    Thanks

    Nelson

Good to hear about the extension, cant wait to see what you come up with. I hope you add a scenic section board that i think would work well :)
