  1. Rail Ex Taunton at Taunton School is only a couple of days away (Sat 21 Oct and Sun 22nd Oct). Some people refer to the show as the 'Taunton Eatathon' due to the quality and quantity of food served in the Taunton School restaurant. The menu this year is,

    BREAKFAST (8.00 to 10.45)

    Toast, Bacon or Sausage Baps

    SATURDAY LUNCH (11.30 to 2.00)

    Lasagna

    Chicken Korma

    Steak & Kidney Pie

    Battered Cod & Chips

    Spinach & Ricotta Cannelloni

    Apple Sponge & Custard

    SUNDAY LUNCH (11.30 to 2.00)

Roast Topside of Beef & Yorkshire Pudding

    Roast Turkey & Cranberry Sauce

    Roast Pork & Apple Sauce

    Vegetable Curry

Apple & Apricot Crumble & Custard

Hopefully see you on Sat 21st or Sun 22nd Oct and remember there are 32 quality layouts supported by 23 trade stands to compliment the food. If you do not like crowds then the Sunday would be the better experience. Even 'Storm Brian' is coming to see the show on Saturday!

  2. Only two weeks to go until Rail Ex TAUNTON the annual exhibition organised by Somerset Railway Modellers Club. The website has had a final update this evening to reflect the significant changes to the show for 2017 due to the expansion of our traditional venue, Taunton School,

The website (http://www.somersetrmc.org.uk/Rail-EX/index.html) is a comprehensive source of information about the show and has a dedicated page (http://www.somersetrmc.org.uk/Rail-EX/2017%20Plans.html) outlining the changes in place for this BIGGER & BETTER show.

We hope you enjoy the show.

  3. Over the past few months there have been a few changes to the original trader and layout list, these are as follows,

Seven Ash has been replaced by Bw Dugelsheim (HO)

Additional layout added North Hurst (OO)

Total number of layouts stands at 29.

    Traders

Website has been updated to reflect these changes and provide more layout information - please take a look http://www.somersetrmc.org.uk/Rail-EX/index.html

  4. Somerset Railway Modellers Club is pleased to announce that Rail Ex Taunton returns this year on 21st & 22nd October 2017. The show will be bigger (and hopefully better) than any previous year as we have managed to secure a large additional exhibition space previously used for weddings. This development has enabled us to increase the layout count to approx. 30 and increase the trade support.

  5. I have had dealings with Colletts Models and have been impressed by the enthusiasm shown by the shop owner and his willingness to put customers at the centre of his business through good customer service, sensible pricing and his 'Price Match' offer. I know the shop is very supportive of local model clubs and has developed excellent links. He was only too willing to support our local show and placed this advert in our show guide.

If you live in the South West we are lucky to be able to visit in person many enthusiastic and energetic model shop owners, Leigh being one of them. If you live further afield then I am sure you will get similar service via the web or phone, check out his Facebook page for good deals.

  6. Thought it was time to comment on and give credit to the excellent service that our local model shops provide us with. On Friday I rang up The Model Shop in Exeter and asked them to put back two sets of points for me. I requested to pick them up at the Model Show in Exeter on the Saturday morning where the shop had a trade stand.

At the model show the items were swiftly located with pleasant efficient service BUT then I was asked if I was a member of a local model club and hence eligible for a discount. I am a local club member and so showed my membership card and received a discount. While I am grateful for the discount I received it is not the reason I am moved to write this post more the fact that I was asked, because not all people want to or have the confidence to ask for discounts for themselves. WELL DONE, THE MODEL SHOP EXETER for supporting the hobby and providing exceptional service.
