  1. Hi Jim,

I notice in your fine sequence of "70" photos that when the loco and train are stationary, both lower marker lights are active, but the headlight is off. While on the move, when the headlight is activated, the adjacent marker light is off. I'm about to make some circuit changes to my Bachmann loco to enable the LokSound decoder to drive the lights in a similar manner, but before I fire up the soldering iron, can you please confirm that I have a correct understanding of how you use the lights?

    Thanks in anticipation

  2. Has anyone come across Wipac lighting modules on DRS 37s, equipped with white LED technology marker lights?

I've been researching photos prior to installing some LEDs in the above and I've come across occasional photos that

may indicate a change from the typical yellow conventional bulb types.....or might just be due to over-saturated camera sensors.

    All help gratefully received!

  3. Kal,

Some very useful content there!   Wish I'd studied Mick's techniques before I did my NMT conversions!

Thanks for the pointer, I'll look forward to following Mick's on-going projects in the future.

As I've been majoring on the electrical side of conversions, I've never got to grips with airbrush use.

I can see this is going to be essential before I tackle anything similar in the future...... particularly if I want to get the correct shades of yellow!!!!

(BTW previous "cool Berkshire" comment was of course targeted at Clay's polar express .)

  4. Thought it was about time I joined the forum after Kal very kindly posted the link to my 144 video.

The 144 is a really excellent model and it was great fun to add a few enhancements which hopefully make it even more interesting to operate!

In response to Arran's comment on the red fire extinguishers...... While researching photos of the Northern 144s, I came across a mix of some with red units amongst newer photos with the grey ones (or no extinguisher fitted at all in that location) I thought the red looked a bit more interesting, so that's what I went with.

In response to David's enquiry, I've fitted a LokSound decoder in the trailer car (with a 20x40mm speaker) and a TCS FL4 function decoder under the rear of the motorised car. Both have a common DCC address and their CVs are programmed to provide the appropriate response to the DCC controller function buttons. Full details including the circuit diagrams and the CV programming appear in the 144 page on my web site at http://s374444733.websitehome.co.uk/class-144/index.htm.

    Hope that helps

    Martin
