  1. Hi, Just been catching up on this thread and had to point out that I travelled on that train with the Liverpool Team and the FA Cup from Euston to Lime Street in May 1965. I was on my way home from University in London and turned up at Euston unaware that I would be on the same train as the cup. I suspect I was the only Evertonian on that train so it did have a small semblance of respectability. On arrival at Lime Street, I walked out of the front of the station to go round to Skelhorn Street to catch the L3 home. I got a mighty cheer as I appeared carrying my suitcase and had the great satisfaction of thinking to myself how little did those misguided reds realise they were cheering a blue. Only a year later, of course, we were at Wembley to win the cup. Cheers, Stan
  2. Hi, Not quite a comment on double-sided tape but you might find the use of card strips interesting - see <http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/116/entry-7835-bristol-barrow-road-brian-morgan-tous-for-pointwork/> Stan
  3. Just seen this http://homepage.ntlw...on/Products.htm I'm well on with the first three coaches of what will eventually be 4 x 5 car sets of these trains built from these kits. I have thoroughly enjoyed what I've done so far and can recommend them to anyone interested in Liverpool Area EMUs. See also <http://class502.org.uk/> Stan
  4. Mike D wrote: cheers Stan, one vote here for an EM set. Looks like Mike was the only one to add his vote to the four of us ahead of him in the queue. See Ultrascale website where you will find this: Heljan Class 28 If anyone is interested in a conversion for the new Heljan Class 28. Please send an email stating you interest and required gauge. If there is a call for it we will look at doing a batch run for this model, as soon as we are able to obtain one. Update: We now have a Class 28 model to develop the conversion on all we now require are modellers that are interested in a conversion for this model, so they can be added to the first batch run once development is complete. Current interest: 5
  5. Just noticed this on the Ultrascale website: Heljan Class 28 If anyone is interested in a conversion for the new Heljan Class 28. Please send an email stating you interest and required gauge. If there is a call for it we will look at doing a batch run for this model, as soon as we are able to obtain one. Current interest: 4 So anyone interested in EM or P4 versions should state their interest asap. Stan
  6. I've recently bought "A Cumbrian Railway Album", an excellent book produced by the Cumbrian Railway Association. On page 52, there is a photo of two Class 28s hauling the 3-12 pm train from Workington to Liverpool Exchange on 22nd August 1962. I have previously avoided all temptation to purchase a Class 28 (let alone two) but if someone can tell me they worked through to Liverpool Exchange, I may just have to change my mind . . . Stan
  7. Many thanks, Nick. I'll be trying the repair once the grandchildren have returned to their parents tomorrow (and left me in peace . . . ) Cheers, Stan
  8. I've received mine and my Ultrascale conversion wheelsets to make a P4 version. Once I had run it in for half an hour in each direction, I dismantled it (with a certain amount of difficulty over the recalcitrant brakegear which was very firmly glued in place) and took off everything I needed so I could get to the screws which hold the redundant tension lock couplings to remove them. All done until, as I came to put it all back together again, I noticed a brown wire that was no longer connected to the PCB. It is not obvious (to me at least) where I might re-connect his loose wire - it is the one that is attached to the brush holder to the right of the flywheel. If anyone can advise me where I should solder this wire, I would be extremely grateful. Many thanks, Stan
