Just had a blue 22 delivered this morning from Hattons. It is the first Dapol model I have purchased and it is a very nice model. Did have a bit of a problem putting in one of the Valances, R5, but have now got it in so is looking good. Not sure about the headcode labels, may order some of the Precision labels instead.

Got the DB 110 frame today, its too short and being metal would be hard to lengthen. Can anyone make any suggestions?

While in the local model shop here in Calgary, Alberta picked up an old Triang EM2 for about 5 pounds. It isn't in the best of shape, missing the power bogie, someone had put in an old four axle bogie making it a CO-BO, both pantographs are missing, one end has had maroon spray painted on it, and part of the body work at the same end is missing. Figure that for the price I paid it was worth it but now I have to figure out how to rebuild it to a working condition.

My new class 28 arrived today, very nice. Got the blue D5701 version.

The grills on the Apple Green version aren't the best, I have tried to make them deeper but it is taking a long time and I am not happy with the results so far.

Trying to figure out what I would need from the Roco list, not very good at saying how all this goes together. Also what are the Judith Edge etchings, looked for info on class 83 etchings but nothing comes up.

I will, although since I work 12 hour days it will be slow. Congratulations on your impending fatherhood, as forest states it does indeed kill ones time when it comes to hobbies but as I am once more single, and my son is of an age that he is into model trains, I figured it was time to get back into the hobby.

Forest it was that thread that lead me to this forum as I was looking at buying a class 83 body. I am still checking the model out and seeing what I need to do to it at this time. If I can get it worked out I may go for the class 82 and 84.

A search with Google didn't come up with any where that sold them. I had given thought to building my own chassis, I already did this with an HO scale Atlas FP7 unit although that is only a dummy.

No, its not. I can remember when my dad got me the HD version, back in the 1970's after I saw TDB968006, aka D5705, at Bristol Temple Meads. That model saw only limited use on our layout because it was heavy and as Arthur has noted it drew alot of power, not to mention that when it did run it made a growling noise that upset my mum because it was so loud. With this Heljan version I guess the HD version will be retired, although I will keep it. However I do admit that I have thought about reworking it but as it is in original condition it may be best to put it on display.

Its that bad is it? I know the HD version wont run on my layout, tried several years ago on a different one and its flanges were too large so it rode over the sleepers. Never owned an Heljan model before, so should be interesting to see how they compare to other manufacturers.

I just ordered one of these, it will be interesting to put it alongside the old Horny Dublo version I have, once I get that out of storage.
