  1. Does anyone have any suggestions on what primer to use? I have some automotive etch primer but it goes on too thickly and tends to run. Also, how to put it on, spray, brush, airbrush?
  2. I have emailed the Heritage Shunters trust, they have yet to get back to me but they do indeed have 06003, which is the only 06 in preservation. I do have the images now though, courtesy of Michael Edge. Thanks for all the help folks. I put some primer on today, but I am not happy with it so I will probably take it all back off tomorrow.
  3. There you have it folks, all done. I am very pleased with it, especially for a first etch kit. I decided to leave the cab detail out and four it in once it's painted, that way I can spend a bit more time doing research.
  4. It's issue 195, I have it but unfortunately no interior shot. I might have to not have a cab light and just make it look something like right. Can I buy working lamps for it from somewhere or so I need to make some?
  5. I've had a look at Brian Daniels pictures and unfortunately he doesn't have any of them cab interior. I will make it up as I go along if I have to, it's only really the seats holding me up.
  6. This is my first etch kit so go steady on me! I wanted something to do in the evenings about 4 years ago and happened across a Judith Edge 06 kit at the Doncaster show. I can solder so with the old adage "how hard can it be" I set about building. It was at this stage i realised how hard it can be! The frames were built, out of square. I sorted it (took it all apart and started again). I then set about the footplate. All went well so with more confidence i started on the cab. This is where it all went wrong. I added the cab front, sides and back before suddenly realising i hadn't bent the cab sides in at the top. At this point it all went into a box. Fast forward 4 years and I'd plucked the courage up to have another go at it. Out of the box it came, instructions were re-read and off I went. I took the cab apart, cleaned it all up and started again. Cab sides were added, bent this time as they should be. I then added the engine casing to stiffen it all up. I was finally getting somewhere. I felt more confident so ploughed ahead. Today I've added a lot of the detail. In the picture it's just sat together, the footplate isn't actually crooked. The thing I realised is that it will never be perfect, it's not going to be as good as others but I like it and I think I have done a fairly good job of it. The thing I am struggling with is cab detail, I have seen a picture of the control desk but how do the seats fit? Anyone got any pictures? Chris
  7. Probably a silly question now.... I've got the same rivet press (metaphors) and all I manage to do is punch holes with is. I tried setting the depth shallower but it didn't seem to make much difference. What am I doing wrong? Chris
