  1. Cheers Its on the 15:50 from Stranraer Town but it’s starting from the Station today slight adjustment to the schedule... You inspired me with your mainline 2P blog Hopefully I’ve managed to recreate a prototype formation anyway!
  2. Here is the nato black (on the ex LMS coaches)... it’s a bit of a fanciful scene with the 2P but I like the 2P’s
  3. The cattle trucks and parcels traffic pictures here are very interesting. It looks a lot like some of the train formations I’ve composed...
  4. Great pictures Yes NATO black is a mix between dark grey and black- quite a faded colour. It looks spot on for most of the coaches Interesting the variety of freight roofs.
  5. Yes I think working practices were very dangerous in many ways then! Your layout looks great!
  6. Looks really good. Did they ever had ladders down from the top of the wall or did they always go up?
  7. Very! No it’s pretty permanent I used either Vallejo tyre black or Tamiya nato Black. It does seem from pictures that BR coach lids were quite drab!
  8. Thank you There is a picture of the PMV in a book coupled up to some coaches and a BG I think. The Dapol PMV is not bad but it needed the weight removing otherwise it became a dead weight on the coaching stock. I’ve now completed my freight/parcels and coaching stock so the next big project will be to build the Class 126 kit! Then next year I’ll need to build three more unpowered Class 126’s so I can run a six car set. I’ve finished the 1964 timetable so I can run trains from Friday AM to Sat Night!!! Working signals and yard lights next year. Scenic corner extension 2022...
  9. I’be used the Bachmann hose type coach connectors and the card corridor connectors- they work well. Do you think I should paint all my coach lids nato black? I prefer the look but Bachmann Mk.1 coaches are very well made so I’m reluctant to spoil them...
  10. Finally I’ve finished the Parcels rake: 3x Van Ex LMS 50ft Unknown Lima CCT? GUV Ex LMS CCT? Thompson BG Ex LMS 50Ft
  11. There is quite a difference in the Hornby coaches- they seem very underscale when next to the Bachmann mk.1’s. The Bachmann Thompson ck is also higher than the other Bachmann Thompson’s...
  12. A summer Saturday morning in 1963. 6P Jubilee 45738 of 12A Carlisle Kingmoor on the Friday night 23:45pm from Newcastle to Stranraer via Carlisle arrives at 04:09 am. Nine minutes behind schedule... BR 6MT 72008 of 12A Carlisle Kingmoor on the Down N.Irishman at 05:28am... I’m gradually adding corridor gangway connectors to my coaching rakes!
  13. Hello, yes I think so. I’m using rake 1 for the 04:00 arrival. This then gets run back to the carriage sidings at Stranraer Town from where it gets cleaned. This is used for the 13:40-Newcastle. Rake 2 then arrives at 14:06. That becomes the stock for the 21:30 after cleaning and servicing.
  14. Well it’s abit strange. Table 8 in the 1964 timetable has E, Z and W. E- everyday except Sat Z- also runs on Sat until 4th July inclusive W- Saturdays only commences 11th July. TC to Newcastle arr 18:37 (Larne Stranraer Boat Train) I was therefore going to save the eastern region rake for the Saturday service? This would allow me to return the stock that arrived at 04:00 hrs from the 23:45 (Friday) from Newcastle on Saturdays. The Saturday 09:32am from Newcastle which passed Dumfries at 12:01 and arrived at Stranraer at 14:06 would then become the stock for the 21:30 Larne-Stranraer Boat Train which arrived at Newcastle at 02:28 am on Sundays. I have read that ex-LMS stock needed an adapter to LNER/BR stock so my rake is: ER Set 1 BR MK.1 BCK BR MK.1 TSO x 2 BR MK.1 BSK Gresley 61ft Third Gresley BTK ER Set 2 Thompson 63ft BTK or BCK (can’t remember which) Thompson CK 59ft? Thompson 63ft TK? BR MK.1 TSO BR MK.1 CK BR MK.1 BSK Yes an ex LMS/BR engine to Carlisle. In in my case I’d be using a 6P Jubilee or 5MT
  15. In hindsight this is probably a better platform arrangement! The 13:30 DMU to Glasgow St Enoch in Platform 2 The 13:40 Dumfries Port Road Stopper in Platform 3
  16. Corkerhill’s 44957 prepares to take the 13:40 to Dumfries. It can’t be a Saturday as the service would run to Newcastle arriving at 18:37. This is my ex LMS Port Road 4 Coach Set + XP Van. The Class 126 (to be built- Silver Fox Kit has arrived) would have preceded this at 13:30 but would have diverged at Challoch Junction to Glasgow St Enoch
  17. It has a nice full colour map at the back and also features: Daylight Service To and From Ireland! TSS Caledonian Princess 14:30 departure from Stranraer 16:45 arrival at Larne Connects to the Class 126 services to Glasgow. From St Enoch passengers can connect via the other Glasgow termi to Aberdeen, Perth Dundee and Stirling. The other daylight sailing departed Larne at 11:00 Arrival at Stranraer 13:15 This was a Monday-Saturday summer service!
  18. The Timetable has landed... one small step for me one giant leap for prototypical running! Although to be fair the legend that is Silver Sidelines has already assisted massively
  19. Sometimes a guest driver helps (same household bubble)... My daughter has been in charge of the trains tonight and has chosen the ‘guest’ DPU and the Newcastle Boat Train. A new book arrived and I’m slowly digesting it. I’ve realised that I have got services mixed up. 23:45 Newcastle arriving at Stranraer Harbour 04:00. This would then provide the ECS for the 12:20 (lately 13:40) to Newcastle. The N.Irishman would then arrive after this at 05:23...
