  1. Keep on to Hornby kelsh003 it took me a while to get them to send me the part.

I had the same issue.I've done a little video/slideshow of the repair https://youtu.be/WAXUOaYvApk?feature=shared

  2. thanks mikeparkin65 and APT fan. It's best not to mention the APT that's not good for my blood pressure :-)

It didn't seem to be getting any better with running, so I decided to carefully remove the base plate on the locomotive to check the axles.

I cleaned them with a cotton bud and Isopropyl alcohol removing a bit of black oil-type stuff and then lubricated sparingly with a gaugemaster oil pan I also did the connecting rods and motion at the same time and replaced the base plate making sure everything was aligned properly.

The loco is now running a lot better but not perfect. I'm going to give it a run-in over the weekend and see how it goes. Hopefully, it will get smoother.

I have to say this is one of the worst steam locos for running out of the box. I've had

An update: Hornby customer services offered to sort this if I sent it to them, or to supply the part when it becomes available. I opted for the replacement tender connector part. As such, that's a very satisfactory outcome. For those joining the conversation at this point, this arrangement of contacts is incredibly small, much more so than the macro photo would have you believe.

Can you not transfer the unused contacts from the top piece? I haven't tried it yet myself, but going to give it a go.

I had the same problem I had had the Loco and tender apart twice, and on the second time, it didn't work. I managed to figure out what was wrong using test leads to the locomotive

Contacted Hornby Technical, who said to send a photograph of the part as they didn't seem to know what it was. I haven't heard anything back from them yet.

Looking online, I found the part had been available from Peters spares but it was sadly sold out I did a Google search using the part number they had. I managed to get the last one available from the new modeller’s shop.

The hardest bit of fitting it is removing the white plug from the crimp connections, so you can pass the wires through the chassis then you have to do the same procedure with the new connector reusing the white plug.

The part number is X7955 on the label, it calls it new loco tender connection P2.

From the research, I've done these fit the new P2 the Hornby Dublo A4 and the Hornby Dublo Scotsman

I don't think the tender side of this connection is very robust or reliable. I think Some could've just been jammed together in the factory and that's why they're failing so quickly.

I wouldn't recommend anybody to disconnect them unless they have to.

    Hope this helps

  4. I'm having trouble with my 92134 it's the second one I've had and like the first, it's not running smoothly. going to give it the weekend running in and see if it improves

    Does anyone have any tips

It's like it is tight and sort of stops and starts when running

Chances are that its my sound file.

    Can you read CV106?

    Send me a PM.

    Wiggy.

On my lokprogramer CV106 reads 0

on my Hornby elite CV106 reads 255

i haven’t tried my NCE power cab yet

I’m sure it’s a The DC kits sound as it matches their function sheet

  6. Can anyone give me a function list for the accurascale class 92 it's fitted with an ESU lokpilot 5 bought from accurascale pre-programmed

I did email accurascale they say that it is the sheet included the loco but that's for the sound-fitted version

All I need is a basic function list for the 92 with a Lokpilot 5

    Thanks

    Oliver

Received an email today saying Sir Nigel Gresely was in stock and ready for dispatch, but I need to update payment details since my card has changed since pre-ordering. Checked their website and showing in stock as well:

I'm actually thinking of not going for it, as I'm really not sure if I want it anymore (definitely don't need it anyway) and I also have Union of South Africa on pre-order which is a model I have been after for a long time.

    thanks, Richy59

I had given up hope of getting 60007. I've just ordered one from Hornby

  8. I've had another look online tonight and managed to work it out by the process of elimination it's a DC kits sound file

It's a superb sound file. the only thing I need to do now is adjust the breaking on F5 the active break application CV 179 needs more breaking on the loco.

  9. Can anyone help me I've just picked up a very nice Hornby black Five at a train fair at the weekend and it's fitted with an ESU Loksound decoder.

    I think it is a Loksound 4

but I don't know whose sound files it has and don't have the instructions with the function list is there a way to find out?

The little label on the decoder just says black 5 V1

    Thanks

    Olly

Can we assume that the latest version of the ESU firmware will be included on the decoders fitted to this new run of Deltics? This will give us the facilities to use the new bass and tremble controls that are included in the new firmware. I've just upgraded my two Deltics to use this update and what a difference it makes to the sound of the Deltic sound decoder.

Can you tell us more about the firmware update?

Do you just put it on the lokprogramer ?

And what does the update give you on the Deltic? Is there updated information on the functions ?

Got the NYMR one from ROS had to go back as everything was seized, very easy to replace with them great service 👍

Can you tell me the model number please ?

I’m thinking of getting a 9f and do like to get preserved locomotives so the NYMR would be great

  12. Just received my Network Rail Green Caroline from Rails of Sheffield This morning

I have a Dapol Imperium decoder and it's not working with my NCE power cab but works with my old Hornby Elite.

Any ideas as to why it is not working with the power cab?

Update I was trying to use a long address not a short address 🤦‍♂️

  13. Looking for some upgrades for my apt set to make it run better and smoother

Is there anything I can replace the Hornby pickups with? and is there an improvement for the coach lighting? Maybe fitting a bigger capacitor ?

I’ve got the hunt couplings to fit already

Just got mine out to try, after sitting in the attic for 6 weeks. I think it’s a super set, really well done and presented. However, the loco thinks it’s a kangaroo! Extreme jerking leaps. Looks like a systematic build issue. (I would guess the worm/cog is deformed) The loco will be going back! I checked my other S&DJR jinty, very smooth runner.

yes I’ve found the same thing with my one.

having removed the body it looks very cheaply and poorly made

.looks like there’s been some cost cutting compared to the previous releases of the 060 locomotives

  15. Has anyone fitted interior lighting to the latest s stock ?

I got the set for Christmas and have been running it today

it looks like there’s locating bits on the underneath of the roof where the lights should fit ?

what have people used for lights on the s stock?

  16. A very nice set

But I'm having problems with the locomotive not running well .it's very noisy and stops and starts it doesn't run smoothly .the motor is very rough sounding

I have other Hornby railroad 060 locos running much better on the layout

Has anyone else had trouble with this locomotive from the set ?

I’ve tried running in and cleaning the wheels and a very small drop of model oil still no luck

  17. I did say to the seller that we could come to an agreement on a partial refund but he said he wanted the loco back to send it back to Hornby for a refund

I didn’t know Del Boy had his own loco 😂

i will see if i can find another one at the right price

there’s a few on eBay some sellers have sold quite a few I’m not sure where there getting them from as there only supposed to be for club members
