  1. Looking forward to the close ups Rob. Could this finally be the way to an accurate 25? Lets hope so! Simon I hope you're considering selling these as I'm sure there's a lot of us will queue up for them!
  2. Already replied on the 3d printing thread, so this is a bit of duplication, but really looking forward to seeing your work on the 25's progress. Aside from the cabs, can you post a pic of the under frames?
  3. They look good don't they? Get cleaning them up and get cracking Rob! I want to see them fitted and get some ordered some ASAP! Looking at the pics, does the cab casting finish in line with the edge of the door, i.e. - before the row of rivets that on the prototype joined the cab to the body? So the Bachmann rivet line will be kept and the join will be right in front of it?
  4. Thanks for posting the OU video Michael. I every time I see anything about apt-p I'm always sad that the project was allowed to fail. Got to agree that I would love to have a train as next years big announcement from rapido
  5. Thanks for that Rob - I'd very much like to see how you get on with that project - you'll be posting the work on pea fore's thread? I for one would definately be in the market for buying several of these cabs - and I'm sure there's plenty of others too. The Bachmann 24/25 cab really isn't up to the job anymore
  6. Sorry if I missed this somewhere in the thread but are there plans to sell the class 25 cabs retail?
  7. Last set of pictures are great. I very much liked your last layout but this one is a real step up in terms of realism, excellent work! Particularly in regards to the change from peco track to C and L, it makes a big difference.
  8. Some excellent work on display here! How far away from retail are the class 25 cabs - I want some!
  9. Anybody converted a new spec 40 to EM gauge yet? Although it's easy to space the wheels/stub axles out further from the plastic gear it isn't a very stable arrangement.
  10. Hooray! This one I will definitely have, Not that it's entirely appropriate for my layout setting but growing up I always thought these to be very odd and very rare weirdo electrics!
  11. Saw this thread 90 seconds ago and ordered one 2 seconds after reading first post! I doubt it will even fit onto my tiny BLT layout, but its such an iconic train for me as an excited 10 year old I was CONVINCED this was going to be the future of train travel, instead we got class 142!
  12. It's been a while, what's happening?, impatiently waiting for updates here! Keen to see how you're getting on!
  13. Good work so far, followed your last layout thread, very inspirational. I'm particularly interested in your experiences of building the points, are you using bullhead or flat bottomed rail?, I ask because I've just started using C&L components to build my EM track and with flat bottom rail the chairs break frequently when trying to slide them onto the rail! This is so annoying that I've resorted to filing the base of the rail until it's a kind of half breed flat/bullhead, which is a real pain and time consuming.
  14. I like the look of Buxton myself, this view from the opposite angle is better I think, lots of grime and piles of coal about the place, and particularly because it has 16 toners in there rather than the 21 hop's - which I don't think there's a model of is there? https://www.flickr.com/photos/26690797@N02/7190378782/ Also in the first picture there seems to be a DMU car attached to the 25, I wonder what that was doing in the goods yard?
  15. Thanks for the pictures Keith that's great, especially looking down onto the chutes - something I ve not seen before. but what are those things that look like striped bags (or even cushions!) lying between the rails - they look very odd. Also the coal storage bunkers look similar to those at Shrewsbury, is this a standard design, LMS or GWR or BR I wonder?
  16. Thanks for that Ray, thats the kind of thing I need more pictures of and info on. And thanks to Keith too. Do you have any more info on Gobowen? Did it use coal drops? And do you have any links to photos? Thanks for all the help everyone
  17. Thanks for that, especially the links to chadderton. the minimalist nature of the trains and run down facilities are the kind of feeling I want to capture. Need to find more detailed pic's of coal unloading/drops though. I think this is going to need every building scratch built.
  18. I'm just about to start my new layout, set in the mid 70's in the North West. I want to have some excuse to use my 20 ton coal wagons and wondered what facilities existed for unloading coal wagons at small depot's or sidings. I have only 6' x 2' to play with and am using EM gauge track. Has anyone any photos or plans of suitable depots etc that existed then? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
