  1. Thanks guys, all sounds a lot harder than Railmaster, which is a doddle for setting up points.  Have to go a different route as RM, does my DCC layout in 00.   Have a newly acquired N gauge with 15 points, and simply want to operate them with a sprog. That will leave me free to  presently run Locos on DC. Far too fiddly for me to put decoders in my N gauge locos. john

  2. My railway room, is vast, some 24x20. In france you can buy these storage type heaters that heat up the  internal brick/type things, which release heat over several hours. Also able to set to frost control. They are not expensive to run, and release heat all day. Gamme vert, is the system. Floor is felted and carpeted. Temp never drops below 5 degrees.  Walls and ceiling are pine clad, with 6 inch fibre glass rolls between cladding and wall.. john

  3. Trip,  marklin AC track, is not a problem. Its normal 2 rail track, with studding laid  down the middle, for a  train pick up. which makes it in effect, 3 rail. Similar system to Hornby Dublo.  You can buy the studding, or, like me, you can simply lay a third rail down the middle, using old flexi track. Hence you could rig up an oblong of track for your lad.. john

  4. I have had 6 railway layouts in lofts, without any probs. Council, either want new joists, the other way, fixed to walls , or new ones screwed/ glued to existing, wall supported.. Thats it. Aluminium loft ladder. I have never been inspected, just photographed my joists. Brighton, southampton, weymouth, kidderminster,  stranraer. For occasional, hobby use, must be cheaper than shed, and all that goes with it. john
