  1. Diesel Depot is in preparation for its next public exhibition at Wexford MRC's Open Day on 20th October 2019. This time locos in the black/tan/white livery (and one Supertrain livery) will be on display including CIE Classes B121, B141, B181, A and C. The prototypes date from the late 1960s onwards.
  2. Diesel Depot has won the Best New Layout Award and a Perpetual Shield for Wexford MRC on it's first exhibition at Enniskillen!
  3. Diesel Depot is ready for it's Exhibition debut at Enniskillen next weekend:

  5. In spite of everything, there are more good people than bad in the World!
  6. Thanks James. DD is booked to make it's exhibition debut at Enniskillen in Northern Ireland in September at the Erne MRC Exhibition there. Gerry
  7. Thanks Kevin. This is my 6th layout (three OO/DCC and three N/DC) in my portfolio and all in use on the exhibition circuit. Four of these have scenic areas designed within the 4.5 foot footprint allowing them to be displayed on a shelf yet be transported in a normal car to exhibitions. This is a response to the oft-heard "I don't have room for a model railway" comment! I have plans also for a portable O/DCC gauge layout. Happy modelling, Gerry
  8. Diesel Depot almost complete and in BR Blue mode with some evening sunshine:
  9. The best advice may be the same as that given by GB Shaw to a young man who asked for his opinion on his getting married: "Don't"!

  11. Diesel Depot has some modern fencing installed to keep those grafitti artists out!
  12. Hi Pete, I got these from a company called Model Rail Baseboards (www.modelrailbaseboards.com) at a show in Dublin some years ago (€60 each). The Quad Tower Yard Lights each have 4 LEDs which give a good spread of light and give a vertical perspective to a compact flat horizontal layout. They are delicate units and are transported separately in cardboard tubes provided. I have set up apertures through metal washers in the layout through which the plug is passed and connected to a socket directly to the DCC busbar. Cleverly, they are designed with a magnet fitted which holds them in place on the metal washer! This also means that they are not damaged if brushed against during running or exhibitions. Gerry
  13. I have added a small extension to the front of the layout to enable me to fit a fence along the front and have completed some ground scatter:
  14. Doah! I thought I was dealing with a DCC Accessory Stationary decoder. With the point motors all connected to the DCC system and the target motor slide switch moved to "set" the Gaugemaster sequence is press "Accy" enter the number you want and press "Enter". Press "1" and "2" alternately then move motor back to "run" - the pressing of "1" and "2" should now move the point motor. Thanks again for help.
  15. Thanks everyone. I finally got it to work but it took many attempts using Program on the Main. Perhaps my MK1 Gaugemaster is not attuned to the more recent innovations.
  16. I am having problems with these point motors using a Gaugemaster controller. When I try to change the address using the program track and the motor set to "set" (Gaugemaster's instructions are to set CV 513 to the number you want). When I do this and return the motor to "run" on the main track I get no response to Accy commands on Gaugemaster? Now I can't even get the motor to run on Accy 1. Help Please!
  17. Diesel Depot is now equipped with a re-fuelling point and oil storage tanks:
  18. The Diesel Depot workshop is nearing completion with lighting working inside and on the yard tower lamps:
  19. I bought 4 of these units from Hattons recently and only 2 worked satisfactorily. I am awaiting replacements from Hattons who are out of stock.
  20. The brick arches have engineers blue to break up the uniformity and the workshop doors have been painted. The brick has been toned down with a black wash:
