  1. It's been a while since I posted my news, there's quite a lot so will post a bit more next week. I will be exhibiting this weekend at Lincoln & District Model Railway show, so come and say hi if you are making the trip. A sneak peek of a new display model I just finished, here are a couple of photos. It consists of parts from the greenhouse, sheds, and the garden & workshop tool kits, and a bag of the corrugated sheet I make. Scale is for OO / 4mm to 1 foot.
  2. Its a new year, and time for some more exhibitions! I was at Weston Super Mare last Sunday, so hi to anyone who saw me there. This weekend its off to St. Albans for a weekend show, looking forward to it - from the list of layouts and traders there will be plenty to see. CMRA website for the show : http://cmra.org.uk/stalbans.html See you there hopefully...
  3. Hi Mike, yes the Roundhouse is in my exhibition calendar for 2016, I am trying to get around the country as much as possible! There will likely be a few new kits out by then too. Recently I painted up a D2 Platelayers Hut (a 4mm kit) for my exhibition display, so heres a couple of photos :
  4. I've been collecting images of some Severn Models kits now appearing on exhibition layouts which is pretty cool to see! Here is the D1 Brick Lineside Hut on John Cook's 'Kepier Colliery' which I saw last weekend at the Blythe & Tyne model railway show. John has customised it by adding doors to the lean-to store on the end. Maybe the workers here are deciding whose turn it is to make a brew.... Next up the D6 workshop equipment tools in use in various places on Terry Tew's 'Earls Court' layout. Some are in the builders yard, some in the car garage, and a few are for sale in the 2nd hand shop! And then there is one of the sheds from kit N11, making an appearance on Farnham model railway clubs 'Bolden' layout, nested nicely in among the scenery. Full size images are all in my gallery if you want a closer look - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/3492-severn-models/
  5. Exhibition time again... this saturday I will be at the High Wycombe model railway show - let me know if you want to reserve any kits and I will put them aside for you.
  6. I am exhibiting at the Taunton Model Railway Show this weekend, so come and say hi! http://www.somersetrmc.org.uk/Rail-EX/
  7. I was at the Farnham & District show last weekend at Aldershot, so hi if you saw me there, it was a really good show. It's off to the Peterborough BRM show this weekend, for the National Festival of Railway Modelling so hopefully I will meet some more RMWeb'ers there! If you are going to the show and would like to reserve something, please email me what you would like, your name and which day you are visiting : andy@severnmodels.com Everything is back in stock at the moment if anyone is waiting, I am hoping for a busy weekend so there might be a few sold out by Monday (new stock takes about 2 weeks). 8. Hi all, good to hear you all got your kits, I posted them before heading off to set up my display at the N gauge show on friday afternoon. It was an excellent show, so hi to anyone who saw me there! For bending I use a low-tech method - the fold line is etched into the brass already, so then I hold one side of the fold with needle nose pliers, then use a steel ruler (or other flat piece of metal) to press the fold round. This just supports the metal and concentrates the pressure at the etched fold line. A few kits are currently sold out, but rest assured I will get new stock on the go tomorrow
  9. The new tool kits in 4mm and 7mm are now available A couple of them are quite low stock, but more will be ready in about 10 days. You can still order if it says no stock, and it goes on as a back-order to ship as soon as they come in. Head over to http://severnmodels.com for the zoomy photos and have a good look at the details! Also, I will be off to the International N Gauge Show this weekend, so come and say hello at stand 48
  10. This weekend all the new models will be on display at the Andover Model Railway Show... http://www.amrc.hampshire.org.uk/page7.html Got some new tool kits in 4mm and 7mm.... They are not yet on the website but will go on next week - that is assuming the modellers of Andover don't buy them all 4mm first : and 7mm :
  11. Hi Mike - I would split up some components to be a bit smaller, so they would save space on the sheet but it still takes up quite a bit of metal. This one has folds at the opposite corners, and glue tabs at the other corners. Each change in taper requires a new component. Even so, the tower itself is just six components, and each 'arm' is one piece that folds up to create the triangular prism shape.
  12. I'm not sure it will get done into 4mm due to the surface area of the brass required to make it though... For a structure that is actually mostly air, it sure uses a lot of metal! The 2mm version will be £26, but I did a rough bit of working out and to do a 4mm I estimated they have to cost about £66 bit too much I think? If there is enough interest I will produce it though
  13. Hi Markus - good to see your signal box on location! can I see a signalman inside? In the news this week... a new kit for N gauge / 2mm modellers is almost ready - an electricity pylon! Here's a couple of sneak peek photos of the test models : 165mm tall, 47x47mm footprint.
  14. Exhibition time.... Severn Models will be in Birmingham at the Bournville Model Railway Exhibition on Saturday 29th! http://bournvillemrc.co.uk/id23.html
  15. There is a little break now from taking the kits to exhibitions, the next one is at Bournville, Birmingham on 29th August. But this doesn't mean I get to rest - there are new kits to work on! This week I am working on new kits for tools and accessories in 4mm and 7mm... watch this space
  16. Oops forgot to post that I was at the Perth show last weekend - hi to anyone who saw me! This Saturday its off to Beaconsfield show, so if that is your neck-of-the-woods I might see you there
  17. Next weekend is Fathers Day... so... if you're a dad, get the kids to treat you to a day out... if you're a son/daughter, take your dad for a day out... The 19th, 20th & 21st June is the Great Central Model Railway Event, at their stations in and around Loughborough. Take a ride on the heritage line, and at each station there will be layouts and traders galore, an excellent day out. 60+ layouts is quite a lot to see! Of course the Severn Models roadshow will be in attendance, stand 36 at Quorn Station, so come along and say hi All the new kits will be on show, in 2mm, 4mm and 7mm.
  18. The 4mm signal box kits are ready http://www.severnmodels.com
  19. All the models will be on display (and kits for sale ) at the model railway exhibition this weekend at the Locomotion National Railway Museum at Shildon, nr. Durham. Free entry so come and say hi! The 4mm/OO signal box is almost done, I'm not sure the kits will be ready for this weekend but I am trying my best The 4mm signal box, and his 2mm/N gauge little brother :
  20. Here's a painted up version of the 7mm pent roof shed kit, with the optional shed accessories kit...
  21. Been a bit busy getting the new kits ready, new this week are garden sheds in 3 scales The 2mm / N gauge are 4 sheds on one kit The 4mm / OO gauge are 2 sheds on one kit The 7mm / O gauge are individual kits and as the 7mm are soooo huge, there is also an optional accessories kit with a workbench, shelves, toolbox, tools, plant pots....
  22. This weeks news... The signal box kit in 4mm goes into brass testing The Iron Bridge kit is in final testing New kits in the pipeline - garden sheds in 2mm, 4mm and 7mm I will also be at the Rotarail Exhibition at Fareham on Saturday, so if you're in that neck of the woods, come and say hi
  23. Hi Markus - thanks for the suggestion, I have a few other possible variations in mind too, including a larger one and also with straight stairs. I will be at the Trainwest show this Saturday and Sunday, at Melksham, Wiltshire. If anyone is planning a trip to the show, come and say hi at stand 6 A sneak peek, I will have this development test model of The Iron Bridge on display there.... Although not really a railway layout model, its just too nice a structure not to model it. It could potentially work at this size as a single track road bridge in 2mm, or a quirky 4mm footbridge, though its not really intended for either This one is just 85mm long, though I am planning a proper 2mm version soon...
  24. Had a great show at York over the weekend, good to talk to so many people and get their suggestions for new kits! So hi to anyone who saw me there, and thanks for your interest. The visitors to York were the first to see the 2mm signal box painted up, here's a few photos. The full images are in my RMWeb gallery It has wall texture on the inside of the signal room, and 3 levels of detail for 'sliding window' effect. As usual with my kits, it's designed for assembly with glue, and you can solder too if you want to. The 4mm kits continue to be popular and are now back in stock, having sold out at the Leamington show a few weeks ago. The signal box is currently in development into 4mm, so watch this space
  25. Also new on the website, I have added a selection of tools and glues for building the kits. Xuron precision are my new favourite tools - their micro-shear cutters and etch scissors now grace my own tool kit severnmodels.com/tools
