  1. I haven't observed a sudden step up in speed - For example, when sending a train out of the fiddle yard at a controller speed setting of 20, it doesn't seem to go from 0 to 5, hangs around at 5 for a few seconds, then jumps up to 20. What I've seen is an incremental increase in speed from 0 to 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, ect before topping out at the controller setting. This problem was very evident at Bristol on the Sunday when trains were barely moving at one moment, then pushing the sound barrier the next. Of course we were compounded the problem by not understanding what was happening and winding the controller up to full to get the train moving. Add in all the other DCC issues and rolling stock issues, it's just one problem that's lost amongst so many others.
  2. Are you talking about the issues were we se the loco going at a throttle setting of 20 (for example) and the loco crawls away and over a distance of two or three boards builds up to the set speed? This problem started to be noticed at Glasgow with the odd loco, but is now impacting several. My research into the problem is indicating the CV's controlling acceleration/deceleration are getting altered. But I'm very much a DCC novice, so someone with a bit more DCC knowledge may be able to advice better. - Do you have a list of the impacted locos? - Are they all the same chip? - Have you checked the CV values? - Would resetting back to factory settings resolve this?
  3. I'm currently doing some authentic night time running on Remagen.
  4. Beers and the conversations in the evening are the best part of the weekend. Particularly when those conversations are on the subject is C130's on the Mach Loop...
  5. I stand in awe of the delusional world you live in.... 😉
  6. Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but can someone explain how this works? I'm looking at options to convert Remagen to DCC, but as I have an automatic cascade/stack fiddle yard I struggling to figure out how I can make this work with DCC control.
  7. What we need is an ambient noise sensor to automatically adjust the volume for loader and quieter periods. Something to add to the list, Paul.
  8. Since picking up 'HMG Gladiator' last year, I've been quietly working on the LNER Ammunition Wagon. It's not looking for off.
  9. Its EM2 'Aurora' in LNER green. There's also 6054 'Juno' in LNER black somewhere there too.
  10. I do like your idea of adding additional sounds. We may have touched on it before about adding speakers under certain areas of the layout to give whelk clatter over points, station announcements, crossing barrier warnings, play ground noise, etc.
  11. Would it not be an easier and far simpler solution? That's another bit of kit that needs installing onto the layout which operators are unlikely to use.
  12. Have you spoken to Legomanbiffo? When I spoke to them the other year at Warley I sure they said they could do custom sound chip uploads.
  13. Maybe an over simplified response, but why not just get the horn sounds programmed into the loco chips?
  14. As with all things like this there was a number of contributing factors; A near by cofferdam that leaked and saturated the soil. Poor reinforcement in the piles. Inadequately supported excavation...
  15. It’s been a very long time since the last layout update. The layout got put away after Model Rail Scotland 2020 and has pretty much stayed that way since due to a wide range of reasons. It’s now back out and I’ve started slow progress on it again. At the moment the focus is on the far left hand board around the church. Two areas in particular; 1, the Crossing Keepers cottage. 2, the Farm House by the vine yard. The Crossing Keepers cottage will eventually have a garden and veggie patch around it, which the Farm House will be the site of the Kelly’s Heroes cameo with the broken down Sherman.
