  1. you are right the speed is too fast I had two new operators for

its first outing and it took a little while to get used to the adjustments with the layout. All operators have to start somewhere. The lady I imagine is the work of the person who made the video lol. Thanks for your kind words

  2. Well I have set part of the layout up to look into my nce controlling problem going down from two cabs to one in the weekend and the alignment changing on the turntable when I moved it from home. The turntable has been adjusted really easily just wish I thought of it on the day and the controllers I will never know. Get it all set up and worked first time. So I thought I would have a run with my mom exhibition stock and get my Scottish cl37’s out and my duchess.

Hete is a link for a YouTube clip hope you enjoy.

  3. Thought I would spend a little time checking over the layout before the exhibition in two weeks to find one flipping point has decided to not work.

Problem is getting it out now after checking all the problems it could be, good job I have spares. Anyway it has given me time to have a little test of the four new additions which have been kindly worked on by Ian at Mercig. Here is one of them and a usual visitor that I took before and never posted it on here.

  4. Morning Carl

The trackwork was rather complicated back then and I have still had to miss some out. I am glad I have captured the ambiance with the semephore's as they are in the process of being removed completely.

I have a little interest so far from people seeing it on the forums which I will actively be arranging for next year onwards.

  5. well Aviemore went up for its last time before its first exhibition in may. Ordered the lighting rig and put up the curtain along the front. I just need to cut down the two end backscenes and then that’s done also. Really pleased with the running with no problems at all from the start. The turntable even managed the move to the new extension and worked great.

  6. Well today I visited Aviemore to see for the last time the semaphore signals that have stood the test of time to see they are finally being replaced with some horrible colour lights. I knows it’s progress but It is a shame to ruin such a nice station with these.

I also spent a little time at Dalwhinnie this afternoon to see some action whilst out with the dogs. Maybe a new layout to think about.

  7. Well a very productive few days I have managed to get the other boards together again whilst I have some room. The road has been re filled as the other looked terrible and i am just waiting for the paint to dry before adding hedgerows. I have finally got the last signal in and looking at fitting two motors underneath to get this working. I have also added a bit more vegetation to make it look better as some spaces looked a little sparse and fitted the curtain for its exhibition. Hope you like the latest photos

  8. Hello Neil,

I think you're building a Worsley Works Caledonian Railway Jumbo kit. What chassis are you intending to use?

    Markus

    Hello Markus

You are correct I have been measuring up a j39 chassis and tender to see if they would fit as they are not far off. Any suggestions before I go to far? Have you had a go at one of these?

  9. Whilst having a wee break from work and sorting out little details I thought I would make a start on the little project that I bought two years ago.

I have a long way to go yet and the hardest thing so far is making this when there are no instructions that come with the kit. Hopefully I can do this justice as I have always wanted an n gauge one of these. I wonder if anyone can quest what it will become.

  10. Don't know about the Aviemore stops but as part of their war time upgrades in the North a lot of HR stops were replaced by LMS ones. Here is one at Thurso.

Thankyou Ben it is hard to find any clear photos of the stops at Aviemore back in the late 50’s etc so I am looking at doing a mixture if I can get the stops to look right.

  11. Had a wee play with some photos of Aviemore and have installed the new working turntable. I have ordered some fine etching of railings for the deck and some highland bufferstops. Only small problem is finding instructions to how these should be put together. I am looking for some photos of highland bufferstops to help but don’t find many people take these sort of photos

  13. Hello Neil.

Hope you have made a good recovery.

What grade was Aviemore box for the signalman to be able to afford that sort of car?!!

    Tommo

    Hello Tommo

I would have thought one could stretch to one not like us on our siggies wages now lol.

  14. Well finally Christmas is out the way and I have got time to work on each board individually. I have not done anything for a while and have been spending time painting figures for little scenes. Hopefully these ad interest. Any ideas gratefully received. The next job is to fit the new turntable which will be interesting.
