  1. The first film shown in the UK was 'South Pacific', released by 20th. Century Fox in 1958. There were Cinemas converted to show the film, Certainly Manchester, Birminghame, London, Cardiff etc. TOD-AO was created by Mike Todd, together with American Opticle. There were a number of releases, including the 'Sound of Music' mosy were shown in London at the 'Dominion' Totenham Court Road - Sound fo Music ran there foe 6 Years. TOD-AO was a 70 mm film, as apposed to the traditianal releases which were 35 mm stock. The Ratio of a 70 mm Screen was 1 - 2.2, meaning for every fot high the width would be 2.2 foot wide. Hope this helps! Good luck David (Hope you can release your production in a cinema near you (It would today be an IMAX screen) Peter
  2. I did park this Aston in an ALDI car park, and was surrounded by eager admirers. However, no damage, just great respect. The ALDI concerned was in Southern Ireland, surrounded by happy people.... Andy
  3. I agree with Grahame, in the early1960's I discovered 'Kitmaster Mk1's' and assembled quite a few of them. I painted them (usually Chocolate & Cream) and a shop in Chester asked if he could see what I had done. Next time I went there (it was the shop I bought the kits from) and he asked how many I had built and I told him. His answer was he had a buyer for them and would I like to sell them, stating there were no Choc & Creams available at that time and that he could sell as many as I could produce, so I sold them all to him and never returned to Kit building. My weakness at that time was lining out, unlike our veritable 'master' Coachman. The dealer too suggested I buy a lining pen and learn how to use it. Before deciding to do this my life suddenly changed as I moved away from home and concentrated on my new Job. Kitmaster seemed to be quite good to me and I see they are still sold on E-bay. Now I can afford to buy what I want (and perhaps indulge too much). But, at that time I did not complain as I never visualised my self succeeding to the extent I have, but enjoyed building the kits and other items. I stayed away from model railways for 30 odd years. Such is life. Andy
  4. Hi Chaps, Ooop's sorry, you are right it was he OBB Railjet, I travelled on this sevice from Vienna to Munich last February, in dreadful weather, but it was very comfortable, and even in bad weather, there was NO bus replacement!! -) Regards, Andy (medium61)
  5. Hi Webcam watchers, Austrian passenger service 'Regiojet' is travelling via Plattling on iy's way to Munich (instead of Bus replacemnt - lucky Paaengers :-) Andy
  6. Hello everbody, Well, it seems that 'Railject' also travel via Plattling in the opposite direction to Munich, as well, usually about 10 minutes to the 'even' hour. I travelled on this service from Vienna to Munich (via Saltzburg) in February (very comfortable), so I suppose it's because of the flooding (or Engineering, there was a lot going on when I travelled), At least they seek alternative routes, rather than as as in the UK it would be 'Bus replacement' and be cramped and take 10 hours longer!!!!!!!! Andy
  7. Hello everyone, Seems that 'Railjet' trains have been diverted from 'Vienna - Munich', they now operate via 'Passau-Plattling-Munich' (you can see some of them 25-28 minutes pass the odd hours as they go through 'Plattling', thought perhaps you would like to know! Andy
  8. Sorry 'Tony_S', I think that was me, they could'nt complete my full order (2 rolls on back order), otherwise they have excellent service. Regards, Andy
  9. Made a donation today, could you please keep us up todate regarding the funding for the second webcam (I might be able to offer more help). I look every day at the site and find it most ineresting - keep up the good work Andy West
  10. 4 x Corridor thirds (seconds) in maroon arrived from 'Rails' this a.m., Much better flush glazing than the new staniers, beautiful looking coaches, Hornby are certainly the coach builders, judging by these. Only extras in the pack are alternative connectors and end covers (2) for the corridor connectors, which are mis-shapen and reach over the sprung buffers. But very well built. Andy
