Nice work!
I think you will find the Mk2F BSO were not used with the Anglia trains out of London Liverpool street to Norwich with the class 86. They used the modified DBSO (Driving Brake Second Open) which original worked the MK3 shove Duff (class 47) Edinburgh Glasgow trains.
These two photos are of later painted de branded Anglia trains livery to match Mk2f TSO which worked charter trains and in four carriage sets in south Wales with top and tail class 37s around Cardiff.
Good luck with the project!

just found this Arriva Trains Wales coach. Look like a RFM conversion. Not to sure about the plaster of Paris sides and felt tip pen windows. Might have a good body underneath if soaked for awhile!

So I've done a bit of work on mine. The first bsk I was given 50 years ago and much abused in my youth. So it is good to have it running again.
Refurbishment included
1. Replacement wheel sets and for the bsk, replacement bogies.
2. Added gangway ends and doors
3. Replacement buffers
4. Full repaint and relettering
5. Repaint interior and added netting to the luggage cage.
6. light weathering.
7.Replacement glazing
8. New couplings.
I have another 4 in hand. Will post when done.
Nice!
Do you have a photo of your modified gangways and end doors? Thanks!

Great! Do you work there?

Great!
Who’s paint and which tin numbers did you use on the class 153?
Is it the same as the new MK4 DVT and clas 67 combo?

Just seen some photos of the ‘New’ mk4 set
on flickr
Any one know the colours the DVT and 67 are painted in?
Are they the same as the DMUs?

Nice Ford containers.
When were they used?
I have seen photos that suggest 1960-1975.
Does anyone know when they were phased out for newer versions?

That’s broadly the sequence to follow although I’ve heard it’s usually better to apply the lighter colours first such as the warning panel yellow, then Virgin red, before the Virgin dark grey etc. My art skills are certainly not a strength either! I’ve not yet properly weathered any of my locos or stock, trying to concentrate on progressing the layout but I do divert to a rolling stock/loco project every now and then.I’ve taken a few pics below of the other Virgin liveried 87s that I’ve painted and compared to a Lima original 87003 Patriot fitted with the Hornby ‘Limby’ chassis. Each of my Lima/Limby locos have been partially detailed with handrails and other modifications along the way ....
87035 Robert Burns with original Lima body and chassis
87034 William Shakespeare with original Lima body and chassis
87014 Knight of the Thistle in debranded Virgin livery, original Lima body and chassis
87019 Sir Winston Churchill with original Lima body and chassis. I think I bought this from eBay already painted but the transfer stripes seem a bit too wide/deep
The recent Hornby detailed and heavyweight offering of 87019 Sir Winston Churchill
Hope these help ...
All very nice! Thanks for posting!
The hand rails and jumpers really lift the fronts. Needs to be done with Hornby class 86s as they just paint them on!
I need to wait for good weather and do a batch of them.

Apologies for the slow reply! Do you mean a professional repaint (I don’t know how much those cost) or repainting yourself?
I’ve repainted a few 87s into Virgin livery and the shopping list has included:
- Railmatch 261 Virgin Grey
- Railmatch 260 Virgin Red
- Railmatch 202 Warning panel yellow
- Fox Transfers: F4761/9 - Virgin Class 87 Locomotive Livery (enough for two locos)
- Shawplan nameplate
- Shawplan DP87-02 Roof Mounted Inergen Fire Protection Tanks
* Other suppliers available!
So overall, to repaint one loco yourself is about £20 but to do two or more at the same time the cost per loco will reduce as you’ll only require the new nameplates, roof tanks and possibly transfers.
Hope this helps
Perfect!
I am guessing the sequence is:
1.strip and clean body
2. Any modifications for cab jumper cables, fill hole for pantograph selection switch, etc
3. Black under coat ( does roof!)
4. White under coat on ends
5. Yellow ends
6. Virgin grey
7. Virgin red
8. Gloss varnish
9. Transfers
10.Matt varnish
11. Fit name plate, windows, pantograph, jumper cables, fire extinguishers and electrical cables on roof.
12. Weathering
13. Paint cab interior and fit driver.
14. Admire good work!
Of course masking the bits you want to keep!
Any pictures of the ones you have repainted against one straight out of the box?

Your work is amazing!
There must be a lot of modellers out there who use your work as a go to reference point.
Any chance of putting an index at the start so us mere mortals can find the relevant page for a model.
You have been somewhat busy!
cheers!

Hi Folks,
Here are more some left over parts from cut and shut projects that are too much trouble to sell but to good for the bin.
Send me a PM for what ever you require:
Roof and body sections of Hornby R223 and R233 Pullman cars.
Hornby R223 and R233 Pullman underframes and bogies.
Sections of interior from Hornby R223 and R233 Pullmans.
These items are taken.

The best therapy comes from our four legged furry friends!
Normally people think of dogs and cats, but I have found rabbits have very good bedside manner!
The bonded pair I have are very good at making you stop a busy life for needed chill time. ( Rabbits only stretch out flat when they feel safe and not threatened by any predators.)
