Motors normally run hot if the meshing is wrong, to tight or axles not free.

Just wondering, don't know if this is possible, but is it possible through CV adjustments to delay the startup time from when F1 is pressed to when the startup sequence starts
What I was thinking was as the two loco's will have the same address and one will be speed matched to the other, I have done this with two Zimo decoders in use at the moment so should still be able to match the Zimo sound to the ESU sound, but it would more realistic if when I press F1 for engine start if one would start then some seconds later the second one can start
I know with Zimo Sound decoders it can be done but must be done when the sound set is loaded, can the start be delayed with the ESU decoder, by just adjustment of as CV or is it only available if the sound file is set for it, or if it can be done at all.
Sorry for all the questions.
It would have to be done in the sound file.
Its a delay file before start up begins so can't be adjusted by a CV.

What happened to Steve Brammer? Tried to PM him but nothing.
Cheers,
Bruce
Steve's taking some time out.
If you are looking at having something doing then contact Charlie or Richard Croft (above)

One thing you can try if you haven't already is to turn off the locos sound whilst on the track, then turn off the track power and remove the loco from the track.
Leave it off the track for some time then try again a little later.
Failing that it will be a decoder reset.
Make sure you have sorted out the short circuits though.

Which material? WSF? Or whatever it's called now. Filler primer works well if you don't mind losing surface detail.
Edit: You may want to post this in the 3D printing sub-forum, people who don't view "all latest posts" will probably miss this, and you'll get far more response there.
Edit 2: you may also want a more descriptive thread title, or just search, this comes up often enough.
It's White Natural Versatile Plastic what ever that is?
I did add 'Smoothing down body' to the thread title but not sure what has happen to it.

Wiggy, I got some Mr Surfacer, thinned it down with Celulose thinner and painted it over the body. I settled into the pits and then I sanded it smooth. works except for tricky recessed bits which is difficult to sand smooth.
Heres a Shapeway E Class sanded smooth on this link http://irishrailwaymodeller.com/topic/2372-georges-workbench/?page=10
the roof is a Etched piece but you will see the Bonnet has been treated as I have laid out above.
The School bus is also there is you Scroll down.
Hope that helps.
Thanks George, I'll give that a go.
I'll send you a p.m. as well in a bit.

Does anyone know the best way to smooth down a Shapeways body?
I was thinking of spraying it with plastic filler primer.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Does this happen on ALL sound locos or just one?

Can you enable DriveLock on older ESU v4 decoders?
I have quite a few Legomanbiffo chips.
Or would I need to have them re-blown to get this feature added?
Thanks.
You would need a programmer to update the decoder and add the function.
Best to get a re-blow although if you have many it could prove a bit costly but worth it in the end.

I'm not 100% sure but the ones that Hattons did are Olivia's I think but not 100% sure.

From what you are saying its a loco fault.
So is something sticking, if you give it a push will it move?
Does it stick in the same place.
Try removing the decoder and refit the blanking plug, address 0 and see if you still get the same problem which I guess you will.
So you need to either send it back if its new or send it to Bachmann's service department for repair.

Try swapping the decoder with one of your others and see if it still does the same, that will eliminate one or the other.

Maybe you need a motor to generate chuffs if it's an ESU Loksound, but not if it's a ZIMO or TTS.
Best regards,
Paul
Thats strange.
It was a Zimo one I was talking about and I had a Hornby A4 with a faulty motor with TTS fitted and that did not chuff either as it did not move.
Ho well every day a school day.
Must be a faulty Zimo decoder.
Best regards.

If its a steam sound then you need a motor attached to get the chuffs.

Would the manufacturer still honour this?
The OP said that the issue occurred after the original speaker was replaced with a sugar cube?
You will never know until you try and its not going to cost anything trying as they refund the postage, well they did mine 4x but thats another story.
I just emailed them and said the sound stoped working, which it had, and do you want me to send the decoder back but they wanted the whole loco.

I see, potentially a solution however if the loco is moved to another train or that train is pulled by another loco then the sound would be incorrect- especially if it was pulled by a diesel .
If the loco currently attached to that wagon was pulling another train would the wagon still emit sounds even if not being pulled or part of a train?
It would seem that this loco and the wagon have become joined and that you need to always operate as a pair?
Yes joined by a micro connector but you could put a steam and a diesel sound on the same decoder and use another loco, but you would have to use the same wagon.
Its just a solution to your problem.

Depending on how old the A4 is, if its new (less than 1 year) send it back to Hornby for repair.
I had a similar issue and instead of just sending me a replacement decoder I had to send the loco back.
Unfortunately when it came back it had more issues with it than when it went but thats another story.

Thanks - I have head of people working wonders of magic and fitting sound in the larger models - I think that this is a Liliput model?
How did you go about fitting the chip, bust most importantly where have you placed the speaker?
In the wagon behind the loco along with the decoder.

Have a word with these guys.
http://www.dccsound.com/soundsamples.htm
I have a recording of an Australian EE 6SRKT Mkll if that is any good.
I'll have to dig it out though and have a listen as I've had it a while.

Sounds (pardon the pun) like its made for a Zimo decoder.
Not seen one or fitted one as yet but I'm sure someone has an answer.(DCC supplies)
Dose it say anything about that in the instructions?

Due to its slender body which sound decoder is recommended for the Heljan class 20
I'm assuming you are talking O gauge?
I've fitted an XL in one.

In all seriousness there are no recordings of HS4000 that I can find and I've looked before, nor are there any recordings of the Sulzer 16LV24 engine.
I've even looked for recordings of a class 48 which had the Sulzer 12LVA24 but not found any and the only remaining class 48 'Sparrow Hawk' on the GCR had its 12LVA24 engine replaced for a normal class 47 engine.
What ever engine sound you use know body is going say that its not correct unless you put something silly like a deltic or an EE type 4 in.
I was lucky enough to see HS4000 on test at Leicester station one evening many years ago before I was in long trousers but no idea what it sounded like but nothing that I can remember.
