  1. Just thought I would clear some confusion... The 2 bars you can see on the roof are not the ABB, they are the earth switch. This is connected to a lever inside and can be pushed on and padlocked while work is underway to ensure nothing in the locomotive is live. This is correctly in the 'off' position on the model. The ABB is located next to the earth switch and is a bar connected to an insulator that springs across. This isn't present on the model. The centre headlight on the later version is a typical BR high-intensity 12v headlight and has its own in-cab switch. This can be left on regardless of whether the loco is in forward or not, as it runs off the auxilliary battery circuits. Pre-1980s this was not the case however and I cannot give any info on exactly how they worked, all I know is they used to have their own MCB on the battery panel. I can tell you this with confidence as I have been electrically and cosmetically restoring 87035 in Crewe for the past year.
  2. Thank you for the information. I'll be returning both to hattons I think, just hope they'll refund me.
  3. Hello all, Most of my rolling stock is fitted with GM OMNI decoders purchased last year and run with no issues whatsoever. However, I purchased a couple this year for some new locos and both of them seem to have the same problem regardless of which locomotive they are fitted to. I find that whenever the locomotive loses electrical contact for a split second, it will stop dead for a few seconds then continue on, the lights will also go out and have to be reset, this occurs at any speed. The track is cleaned regularly and as shown by the faultless running of all my other decoders I can't see it being caused by anything else. Thank you in advance.
  4. They all still have them bar 87012 which has a Stone Faively, which I think came off 86233. This is as of August last year when I last visited.
  5. As one of the people who helped with the repainting of 87035, CHC were given artwork by Hornby to follow and on the artwork the boxes were still white, so consequently it has now appeared on the real thing.
