  1. Arrochar and Tarbet in OO My representation of this part of the West Highland Line is beginning to take shape. Located in the loft of the family home, the layout is OO scale and will be current (ish) era. My aim for the layout is to be reasonably true to the real-life location without getting too hung up on accuracy, and to try to replicate - as best I can - some of the excellent scenic modelling of other members of this forum. However, it’s the first layout I’ve built for decades so we’ll see how that goes… I haven’t started a thread yet as I don’t have a lot of free time for modelling, let alone documenting progress, however, I may start one at some point to update on an infrequent basis. There’s a long way to go with the layout. Here are a few photos which show the extent of progress to date: The view looking south from the vicinity of the station platform. A shot of the platform (with station buildings by Braeside Models). 67016 in the sidings after the first phase of ballasting was completed.
  2. I’m the lucky client who took delivery of these beauties this week. To say I’m very happy with them is an understatement. Thanks again for your attention to detail, Brian. The shelters are going to look great on the layout. Hope I can model the station area well enough to do them justice!
  3. I found a good match in the end. If anyone has the same issue try: Revell 350 - Lufthansa blue
  4. Hi all. Looking for a bit of advice on a particular paint colour. I’m in the process of painting an Airfix mk2 FO which I’ve converted to a RLO for my Caledonian Sleeper rake which is in the “First Group” colour scheme. However, I’m having trouble matching the main, blue colour with the shade of blue used on my Hornby sleeper coaches. I’ve airbrushed the RLO using Phoenix ‘First Group blue’ but – whilst this colour looks correct when compared to reference photos – it’s noticeably lighter and more purple-ish than the blue on my factory Hornby coaches. Can anyone recommend a paint colour which is a good match for the shade of blue used on the Hornby Caledonian Sleepers? (Did the shade of blue on the Hornby Caledonian Sleeper coaches change between product runs...?) Grateful for any suggestions. Brian
  5. Likewise at Edinburgh Waverley in the 1980s if the blue haze was anything to go by.
  6. I went to see the layout in the village hall while on holiday in Blair Atholl in the early 90's. We happened to be there at the same time as the Duke himself was being given a tour of the layout. Glad to hear it might return to the exhibition circuit. I'd definitely enjoy seeing it again. Brian
