Can I ask why the gantry was so high and the signals suspended so far down from it?

For the avoidance of doubt, I am a proud Scot and also pleased to have just received my new passport confirming that I am a British Citizen!

I'd recommend this instead of scouring pad. It's a little bit finer and has a better base colour
That's the sort of thing I was meaning. Maybe I used the wrong name for it.

The next job is to try and put a hedge behind the fence because the fencing alone looks too stark to my mind. But I have never made field hedging much before and so this is proving a real challenge and especially in 2mm as most of the scenery materials around seem more suited to the larger scales.
Have you tried using green scouring pad, cut (or torn and trimmed, depending how neat you want the hedge to be) into strips, then dressed with flock as foliage?

The S&DJR van was sent to Biggar wagon works and has emerged with proper couplings! 🙂
It will now be able to run around Kirkallanmuir with the other stock.

Where did they change over, Jim (serious question - from a former resident of Queen's Park)?
Sorry to take so long to respond to this. Other things taking up my time.
On a 1961 Route plan in Jack Kernahan's book on the Cathcart Circle, the outer circle is still marked as 'up' and the inner as 'down' at Pollockshields West. so the changeover must have been when trains got back to Muirhouse Junction.

An S&DJR road van from Tucking Mill arrived at Kirkallanmuir on the morning goods earlier in the week, however, the town photographer has been having a rather busy time recently and was only able to attend and record its presence today. By this time the contents had been unloaded and taken over to the premises of Mr Greenlees, the licenced grocer, opposite the goods yard entrance (see post of 10th December 2021 - gosh, was it that long ago?) from where it is reported that sales are very satisfactory.
Thanks again, Jerry.

That shade of blue is superb! Do you mind if I ask how you went about mixing it up?
Thanks, @JonathonAG. Believe it or not, it is an old tin of Humbrol labelled 'MC12 Prussian Dragoon Blue'! So presumably proper Prussian Blue! 😁

Not my favourite Caley engine, I much prefer the Dunalistair 1, but a superb model nonetheless.
Thanks, Ian. I have to say I agree with you on preference, but this seemed more appropriate for hauling the G & E set

Many years ago I was recommended to only use one screw to fix loco bodies to chassis. That way there's no chance of causing torsion. As long as the fixing point is a little way in from the end it will sit OK. If need be, at the other end have some 'guides' either side of the chassis to centralise the body. Where you are employing split frame collection, these need to be styrene, or other non-conducting material.

I can't recall off the top of my head, @St Enodoc and I'm away from home (in Anstruther) for the weekend, but I'll look it up when I get home.

Perhaps we need a glossary of technical terms. Off-hand I recall ‘dismals’ and ‘coal cart gauge’ but I feel sure that there are many others 😃
Diseasals for one! 😁

You also had places like the Cathcart Circle where trains left Glasgow Central as up trains and became down trains as they ran round the circle and returned to Central.

I finish locos and coaches with Ronseal clear acrylic satin varnish. For wagons I use matt paints.

decision time, cylinders or the small items on the body next?
I always like to get a loco in working order before I start adding any details.

By no means. LQ was well nigh universal up until well into the grouping period. The perception of GW exceptionalism in this respect is a classic example of looking back through a BR steam lens - always bound to fog the picture.
Fully agree there. In any case, the arms on your etch are too long to be GWR. There's were much shorter and stumpier.

After building a set of 65ft non-corridor coaches for the Glasgow and Edinburgh Direct service I had to build a suitable loco for them. This is a CR 900class (Dunalastair III) 4-4-0 No.902.

Well! Painting and finishing off has taken some considerable time, between being a slow business in itself and other things getting in the way.
I decided to finish it in the later light blue livery (at least my rendition of it) and the result can only be described as being on the 'very nearly' side of acceptable, but from 3 ft away with your eyes screwed up it's just about OK.

Close, but not close enough, I'm afraid. There's no signal box just the other side of that bridge.
Also the tall signal post is between the two fast lines, not between the fast and slow, and there's no sign of the bracketed signal.

Thanks Jim. I know the time difference thing is a bit strange. For me it's Wednesday the 3rd today and my birthday was yesterday on Tuesday.
But anyway whatever day it is, - Happy Birthday and all the best from me.
Ah! In that case you're a day after me. Mine was Monday. It's late Tuesday here at the moment (23:17h)
Thanks for the good wishes all the same. Let's hope we both hae mony o' them!!
