Here is a quick video I made of Hornby GBRf 50049 DEFIANCE running on my layout.

Good evening. I have finally received my Hornby GBRf 50049 DEFIANCE from Hattons as it came into stock at the weekend. I've given it a run tonight although it has a TTS sound class 31 chip in it as that's all I have spare!
Runs really well but I can't see these snow ploughs lasting long!
I did also have 50007 on order but due to finances, the fact that I am worried about double heading and that it's exactly the same loco bar the number for another £170, I have cancelled it.
Here are some photos below.

Very sad news. I am from Wigan and very familiar with Wigan Wallgate. I really enjoyed seeing Kevans work.

Great video Pete, showing the variety of scenes you’ve got on the layout...lots of angles to get different photos or videos. The beach scene is superb going up the hill away from the coast - excellent!
Thanks,
Jack.
Thanks for taking the time to watch. Much appreciated. I am hoping to swap out my DCC decoder for TTS sound decoders over time. With Christmas approaching I am hanging off from buying things as Santa might bring me some stuff off the family!

Good evening. The banking I've been working on has a 1st coat of static grass applied and some ballast by the side of the track. I need to cut and glue some 4mm cork between the tracks and ballast the middle and the edge of the other track.
I've installed some security fencing to segregate the different buildings on the other side of the canal.

Over the weekend another Metcalfe low relief shops kit arrived so I have been building them. Now I have sussed how to make boxes to size on Microsoft word I can make my own shop signs and interiors. Below are the photos of the seaside shops that will be on my little promenade.
The banking I made in my last post has finally dried so I've given it a coat of brown so no white poly filler shows through. Scatter, grass and vegetation to follow.

Formed a banking in the area photographed below with some MDF formers, plaster bandage and a thin layer of poly filler on top. Once dry I will paint and then start the concrete yard for the businesses who back onto the railway line.

Good evening everyone. I have not done much on the layout recently. I have built another Metcalfe low relief mill for the corner of the layout. This adds some height to the back corner of the layout.
I have also made another Metcalfe low relief cinema and printed out some different signs to make it look more like buildings you get on a seaside promenade.
So we have Pot Luck Amusements, Sea View Hotel and a Chippy. My kids have suggested more ideas for the next kit, a pub, a souvenir/rock shop and a haunted house attraction! I will see what I can do!

An excellent set of photos Pete, you’ve captured a great sense of depth in a narrow space...particularly the shots you can get from low down 'on the beach'. Rapid progress as well!Jack.
Jack many thanks for your comments regarding the recent photos. I quite agree with your point about the depth in a narrow space. It is a 2ft shelf basically all the way around and I suppose 2 tracks with ballast takes up around 6 inches so not much left to play with I suppose! It should look better once I get a backboard up behind the beach scene.

Good evening. I have not done much on the layout recently but today I gave Freightliner 70006 a run around the completed track and ran fine with no problems. Here are a few photos off the proper camera.

Good evening. Managed to install gaugemaster foam ballast underlay to the remainder of the track and fix in position.
Also installed another point for another siding which could be another track to the aggregate terminal or I could have another rail served industry here.

A nice mixed rake of wagons behind the 37 Jack, typical of 6K05! Good work again.

Good evening. A little more work done on the seaside area.
Fenced off one side of the footbridge in front of the houses.
Static grass and chopped lichen glued to conceal the sandstone.
Put some graves in the church yard.

Very nice Pete, lots of different scenery snippets in a (relatively) small space. It’s coming along nicely!
Jack.
Thanks Jack. It helps that I can finally run trains end to end on both tracks and so far not had many issues with locos or stock misbehaving. Although the 56 throws a rear bogie off a set of points but the 50 and 60 do not.
Maybe a locomotive weight issue?? The 50 and 60 are quite heavy and are recent models where as the 56 is a older chassis. Other than this 1 issue the 56 runs like a dream.

Good afternoon. This morning I have glued down a small section of sand on the beach to see what it looks like.
Other jobs done are:-
1st couple of pieces of fencing fitted.
Footbridge glued in position.
A gravel path around church
Static grass applied to church yard
Still loads and loads to do! This is all currently drying out!

Good evening. Some minor progress after work tonight. I've started to make the footpath from the footbridge on the sea wall to lead to the colourful houses and the church.
I've cut one of the boards for the aggregate terminal but I need to cut another due to the length of the stone trains that I intend to have but they will be dictated overall by the length of the fiddle yard sidings to hold the stock.
A mock up with some Caterpillar wheel loaders and a 730 articulated dump truck!

Durrington Central. A fictional town somewhere in The North West of England (more than just a station).

Merry Christmas everyone. I have a new Hornby KFA intermodal wagon from the missus and kids for Christmas.
They also got me the Bachmann scenecraft portable offices.
At one time this area was causing me some problems and I didn't know what to do with it but now it looks like it's going to be a nice little Network Rail compound.
I also got a Hornby TTS sound decoder for a class 66 so I have fitted it and give it a run around the layout this afternoon. Here is a quick video
Hopefully I can get to a local model shop for some scenic items to continue with the layout.
