  1. Yep, I just used your method Nick and it worked out at 6.8 metres, which seems a lot more reasonable The length is almost exactly 20 metres so I imagine with the original roof it would be 6 metres approximately Thanks for your help, now time to get building!
  2. They may be off, I googled and found that the average brick is 6.5cm tall, I have ignored the joins between the bricks, that's supposed to be 1cm on top but that's still only 5.2m tall.
  3. Hello, I've been looking at making a low relief model of Grangetown signal box to place on my small photoscene layout, by counting the bricks, I've worked it out to be 4.50 metres which I think sounds about right, but at 1/76th scale, is only 6 cm; which seems far too small when comparing it to my other resin buildings by Hornby and Bachmann. Am I missing something here? Or will it be that size in oo gauge and it just seems larger in real life? The building in question:
  4. That pumphouse looks great! Nice work with the brick showing beneath the upper layer. May I ask what card you're using to construct these buildings?
  5. Hi all, after my last layout hopes were removed I'm wanting to start something again but In a smaller space and need home help with a track plan, instead of just jumping in head first this time The idea is the layout to be set in the early 60s, with the inclusion of some 70s Br Blue making an appearance on occasion, the passenger line has been closed, however, the layouts goods facilities serving the large nearby station will still be in use.The station has a single passenger platform that is very close to the fictional major hub that would have allowed passengers to go onto the main line services. The plan with that is I can have a detachable fiddle yard at both ends and allow the major station's shunter to serve the small goods platforms, along with having the occasional terminating passenger train as an 'overflow' platform. I mucked around with a double track line first however thought that it would be difficult with the freight movements in the limited space, so elected for a 'through' passenger line with the goods line terminating. This is a very basic concept at the moment so will be subject to change. The lack of a run around concerns me, especially as it's still just in the steam era, however due to space it's difficult, same with the upper goods section, anything that isn't a railcar would drive in, only to get Stuck and reverse out Any thought on a more prototypical track plan? Layout would probably be set northern region, with ex LNER stock for any steam visitors
  6. Looks very impressive, not overdone at all! What did you do the brick on the ground with?
