I think you might be getting 31466 confused with another member of the class - it was the only member of the class in EWS livery (apart from one used for paint tests which got half way there), and has remained so ever since, and has recently been repainted at the Dean Forest Railway.

The main line wouldnt need to be crossed - originally that happened by the viaduct leading to the Severn Rail bridge

Looking at the photos of the old Severn Bridge station, how much interest is there on the DFR extending in this direction rather than towards Cinderford? What would the major issues be?
