I was recently given a Farish class 60, originally 60078 in Mainline blue, that appears to have been the victim of a probably well-intended but poorly executed repaint.
Evidently an attempt at portraying the unit in DBS red, the original Mainline logo is still visible beneath the red paint, suggesting that the body wasn’t stripped before being repainted.
As such I’m after some advice - I have no experience with painting or even weathering any rolling stock (I just run everything as it comes in the box!) - is there any way I can return this unit to its original Mainline livery?
Would application of something like isopropyl alcohol simply strip both the repaint and the original factory coat?
Am I best sending this off for a professional respray?
Photos for reference. Many thanks.
