  1. Not sure if the situation has changed since this thread started with regards sales in the UK. I have increasingly seen these used at shows in the UK on American layouts. It would appear that friends in the US have purchased them on the UK residence behalf and shipped them as presents quoting that they are "Model Railway items". Quite what the UK customs would say if they knew, I am not sure. Sadly this results in a "High Powered" radio unit being used presumably illegally. If I read the thread correctly, its the cost of getting a unit that emits radio waves, licenced for use in the EU that is the barrier. Does this mean that a DCC fitted loco has to be certified ? my layout certainly plays havoc with my nearby radio. Reminds me a bit of the CB radio stuff years ago. I have resisted on the grounds that my bank manager would not approved.
  2. Pete, Sadly after much cursing and a complete stripdown, I found the trouble. One of the gears is stripped so I have decided to retire her for spares.
  3. As they say on some TV show "resistance is futile"
  4. Peter, Its about time I thanked you for the loan of your layout to showcase my loco's. Attached is a picture of 405 on home rails. Many thanks Andy
  5. Those old GP38's never looked better. Next time I come round I will try to remember to print some number boards as I never got round to doing them. The loft had to be sorted as a new roof was required and I did indeed find loco's etc that I had forgotten about. I have had a good sort out and fair number will head to the next NMRA meet and sold, Not sure about the Susie Q's as the GP18 came from a late friend of mine so has a special spot.
