  1. Hi, Thanks for the help in getting images on line. I appreciate that. This is a trial showing an image when a start had been made laying the fiddle yard tracks. Peter
  2. Morning, I have spent a long time this week trying to get a new topic (Newquay South Western) started and add appropriate images. To date I am making a very bad job of this. I know it will be simple to fix with your patience and help. I started a new topic on my new layout which is under construction. I seem to have done two versions, one in layout matters and one in a blog. I have tried to add a pdf file of the layout plan which I think is available. My attempts to add images showing track laying progress have to date been without success. I apologise for being so incompetent and hope you folks can sort me out. Peter, Nottingham.
  3. Morning, I am experimenting uploading files. This image is 8 weeks old just after a start was made to laying the track. I hope the plan of the layout was OK and people could either see /and or download it. Peter

  5. Afternoon, I tried the Blog thing this morning but the attachment did not upload. This will be me not doing things right for sure. So I will try this out and see if I can get it right. The intention was for me to start a layout last year. The old baseboards proved of no use as the old layout was N scale and to narrow to allow me to build in OO scale. I tried to buy a complete layout but that did not happen. I was therefore in a position to either get on with things or forget it. At 72 years of age a long period of reflection did not seem a good idea. The new baseboards were ordered in January 2017 and delivered to me in late March 2017. Since then track laying has been started and I am hoping that by December I will have an operational layout. I will try and attach the working track plan with this post. Basic details are as follows. Track and points are Peco Code 100. I am using Peco point motors and switches. I am using electrofrog points. The layout is my first venture into DCC and I am going to use the ESU System. The layout design is such that it tries to allow me to have all the elements I have a big interest in. That means that the plan is far from prototypical. The LSWR did intend extensions south of Wadebridge and Padstow but money became tight and it never happened. The layouts that appear on this RM web site are superb and beyond my skill range. Never the less they are inspirational and Torrington and others are great motivators. Hope this woks, Peter
  6. Good morning, Since early 2016 I have been trying to get a new project of the ground. Age and other physical limitations have made this a longer process than I would have wished but after a failed attempt to buy a complete layout failed to happen, there were in fact two very simple choices. Either play tidly winks or get a grip and get a layout started and built. This was begun in earnest in January when a new set of baseboards were ordered, The boards arrived late March 2017 and were assembled in the railway room. Since then track laying has been started and some progress made. I am hoping that the working plan is attached properly so that you have an idea of the projects scope. Confession time now I think. There was as you folks know never a LSWR station in Newquay but at one time there was going to be one and for that matter an extension to Truro. As I am 72 this will be my last layout and so I have taken some significant liberty's in the plan to ensure I scratch as many of my model railway itches as I can. So the clay works are to near the station. I suppose the milk depot is not so bad. The two loco depots are probably stretching things and it might well be argued there is far to much railway in a small space. I can't hope to match the layouts that have been featured on this RM web page. I think the Torrington layout is classic and that there have been a host of layouts where people have demonstrated amazing skills. Even so I hope at least I can use these inspirational layouts as my project moves forward so that it works well and looks reasonable. Just a quick note on the standards used. Peco Streamline Code 100 track and points. DCC using the ESU Command station. All locos will have ESU Locksound DCC & sound decoders and the tank engines will also have in addition to the decoders the staying alive feature. This is my first venture into DCC. I have most of my stock which is the usual mixture of Bachmann, Hornby, Dapol, Kernow and Oxford Rail. Peter
