  1. Greetings from the boring borough. Survived Telford despite traffic from hell in both directions. The new satnav did a better job of routing me past a double M25 fustercluck than google ever could. I wish I could take credit for cockwomble but I only introduced the phrase to the forum. Twitter is awash with phrases like sh*tgibbon, c*ntpuffin, arsebadger, w*nkpuffin, f*cknugget, etc. Dave, might I suggest taking 2 smart phones with you to the song & dance. Hold them together so it appears you have one. Then record from the one facing the stage, and watch the rugby on the one facing you. Simples. Time to cook breakkie and meal prep for the week. The afternoon is all mine in the shed. Playing trains. Enjoy the day
  2. No trace? Not even squid marks? Surprising. Greetings from the boring borough. Off to the 9th circle of hell later today, aka Telford. 8 hours round trip travel, hotel, wasted night, all for a 4 hour Friday meeting that could and should be a skype call. Asshats abound. I'm hoping to drive but with the QE II bridge closed at the moment the M25 is backed up half way to J5. Highways' traffic app is showing a 44 min delay from J2 through the tunnel. B*gger. I may end up on the train instead. That means hitting New Street tomorrow at evening peak and likely standing on a pendowobble all the way to Euston. That's about it from here. Thoughts as always with John, Sandy, Debs. Sadly I have to add Q to the list.
  3. My vote for worst "improvement" goes to London Bridge. The track changes instead of improving things just generate nightly issues with congestion as trains inbound to CST and CHX are invariably delayed outside of LBG causing a knock on effect. On the Southeastern / Thameslink side the narrow platforms are unsuitable for the number of people using the station. The concept of keeping people off the platform and in the concourse until the last minute works for a terminus where a train can sit for 10-20 minutes but not for a through commuter station where people are politely vying hand to hand combat for an all too rare seat.
  4. Better information on CTV including a map at the bottom of the article. https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/tsb-to-provide-update-on-investigation-into-fatal-train-derailment-near-field-b-c-1.4283080
  5. All pre-booked tickets have a seat reservation. That doesn't stop lazy idiots taking any seat they want though. I do believe some limited on the day tickets are sold without but the purchaser is expected to use the vestibule jump seat. It is not uncommon for us to have to shift some d-bag who grabbed the first convenient seat at St Pancras. Normally on the return they announce that people must be in their correct seats as passengers will be boarding at Lille. There is always a mad seat shuffle there.
  6. Shaking off the cobwebs. After nearly a year in storage the module is set up and running in the shed to prepare for Freemo South V in March. Just doing a few cosmetic repairs and finally moving the stationary decoders into a stand alone Loconet. That makes things easier when setting up as I don't need to hive them off from the main network bus anymore if the meet is using Digitrax. The Lenz throttle panel will be removed and flogged off as it is no longer usable. A few repeat snaps including the new nodding donkey which just needs a bit of scenery blending to bed it into the scene.
  7. Dylan Paradis Andrew Dockrell Daniel Waldenberger-Bulmer Rest in peace gentlemen.
  8. Greetings from the boring borough. It is moanday once again. Managed a fair bit of muddling over the weekend. Like many I know, I've got a closet shed load of kits in various stages of completion. I finally managed to finish off an oil pump, (nodding donkey) after only 4 years. <Warning, modelling content below. Beware of the awl of rebuke. View at your own risk.> Altitude. I was hatched and lived nearly 40 years at 1100m. Most of my summers were spent camping around 2000m or higher. In school we used to drive to Lake Louise for running training around the lake. That ranged from around 1600m to about 2100m. Going higher never bothered me. Going down to sea level on the other hand..... Headaches, pressure behind the eyes, restless legs, & sore chest for the first few days. The bloody diet seems to be working so far. 2.55kg (5.6lbs) in the first week. However, historically when I've tried to lose weight the first couple of weeks are the biggest as a fair whack of that is retained liquid and not fat. 7 weeks to go and we shall see. Good to See Jam and Tassie back into the madhouse. Thoughts as always with Mal, Debs, & Sandy. It is a shame the my content is no more. The click-a-thon to Activity/My Activity streams/Content I posted In/ is now only useful for topics posted in since the upgrade. The simple to access history of my posts was probably the most useful feature of the old software for me. Latest stuff floating to the top, and any long dead threads that were resurrected could be easily spotted. Oh well. No point going all snowflake over it. It is what it is.
  9. Greetings from the boring borough. Tiny little dusting of snow. Just enough to cause the media to whip up a frenzy and people to start panicking. Getting used to the changes on the site. I already miss the 'my content'. It made finding stuff I was recently posting on easy to keep up with. Having to navigate through the activity button is far less efficient. A small price to pay for the other improvements. Today will mostly be puttering in the shed. Welcome Ray. This place is more or less a post graduate practicum for studies in complete bollards. Enjoy the day. To those complaining about the cold....... The Canadian definition of cold follows. It's not cold until your p*ss freezes before it hits the snow.
  10. testing testing. and we're back-ish.
  11. Morning all from the boring borough. I see we still haven't been thrown out of the playground. Thoughts with John, Sandy, Mal, & Deb this morning. A quiet 2 days predicted. Take care all and see you on the other side with the new improved RMweb.
  12. Thanks Andy. Day 1 and so far so good. Not my first rodeo but surely the most restrictive I've been on. Bit of a catch 22. I need to exercise more to lose weight, but I need to lose weight before I can get my knee fixed so that I can exercise.
  13. It won't be going to the meet, no. I'm considering not taking any stock as there is usually an over abundance. Especially with locos. Last year I ended up packing away my locos by Sunday morning and less than half of my registered stock was actually used. After Friday and yesterday I need a few days off the ale but 8 weeks will be interesting. Fruit twizzlers or the boring red ones? If the latter our local sweet shop brings in the mini packs.
  14. Greetings all from the boring borough. Rather quiet here. Cool but sunny. Another bad sleep but I blame the neighbour's cat deciding to trigger all the security lights she could find in short order at 3am. The back gardens and alleyway lit up like Wembley. Never really got back to sleep after that. SWMBO gets emails from the TfL Museum shop on a regular basis. Yesterday she received one while we were in the pub. Half price on tile pattern cushion covers. All well and good. Next thing I know she's ordered a complete set, AND a Bachmann S class train. She's a keeper! Friday and Sunday were strange on our line. First a fire diverted trains from Woolwich, and yesterday trains were diverted again due to engineering works. That meant white worms along the line. Never seen them here before so wondering how and when the drivers obtained their route knowledge. The plans for Thameslink trains on the Bexleyheath line were abandoned early in the London Bridge upgrade. In other gnus, today sees the beginning of 8 weeks of very restricted diet. This is to lose tonnage prior to an anticipated knee op, and to bring down my glucose levels that came back just below the borderline for pre-type 2. 800 calories, no carbs, no alcohol, no dairy. I have a feeling I'm going to be grumpier than normal. Enjoy the day.
  15. One thing to remember, with extraction you are trying to only create an area of low air pressure inside the booth to keep the spray from escaping, and just enough air flow to be able to push the spray through a filter. Too much airflow and you end up sucking dirt, dust, and the neighbour's cat past your nice cleanly painted model. Subtle and gentle = good. Wind tunnel = bad.
  16. Night all. Sainsbury dodgem time sorted. Visit to a couple of local micro pubs sorted. Bit o modelling sorted. Dinner sorted. Sunday. Sorted.
  17. Afternoon all from the boring borough. All quiet here. A bit exhausted after a long week of insomnia. Welcome Dave. Browsers, none are perfect. Edge has improved but it is still crap. IE 11 doesn't support the latest and greatest webby widgets and html standards. That leaves Firefox and Chrome. FF has a reputation as a resource hog on older i3 processors. That by the process of elimination leave Chrome. This is what I now use for day to day. For email I use Outlook and not a browser. For work I have to be able to test portal installations using the browser specified by the client. 2 years ago that was 90% IE. Today it is around 80% Chrome. Time to rehydrate myself and do some work in the shed.
  18. Moaning all. Crabtree was too upset to make an appearance this morning. Chopping onions I think. Thoughts with Mal and his family. That is all. Hug a loved one.
  19. From the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. "No," Arthur said, “look, it’s very, very simple…. All I want… is a cup of tea. You are going to make one for me. Now keep quiet and listen.” And he sat. He told the Nutro-Matic about India, he told it about China, he told it about Ceylon. He told it about broad leaves drying in the sun. He told it about silver teapots. He told it about summer afternoons on the lawn. He told it about putting the milk in before the tea so it wouldn’t get scalded. He even told it (briefly) about the East India Trading Company. “So that’s it, is it?” said the Nutro-Matic when he had finished. “Yes,” said Arthur. “That is what I want.” “You want the taste of dried leaves boiled in water?” “Er, yes. With milk.” “Squirted out of a cow?” “Well in a manner of speaking, I suppose…” “I’m going to need some help with this one.”
  20. That one worked first time. Got the usual green blob with the dancing white dots while posting. As flaky as a box of breakfast cereal with a cock rooster on the box.
  21. just now posting the above. Clicked post. no visible response. Waited a minute and hit F5 to refresh. Post appeared.
  22. None today so far but this is what I got on Tuesday. Clicked post, no visible response. Clicked again. Same. Refreshed and ended up with 2 separate posts, one with the original text, the second with the text repeated in 2 paragraphs. New post popup appeared, clicked, no response.
