Perhaps worth mentioning that the Marklin 6-wheel Umbauwagen, which at one time were sold in fixed pairs, have quite a high rolling resistance on curves. Problem is most acute with steam hauled but electric and diesel also have their limits, albeit higher. Definitely worth experimenting before committing to too many and keep the wheels clean and axles lightly oiled..

Best German retailer by a country mile (? kilometer) for UK shipment is www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com. Highly competitive pricing especially Marklin / Trix etc, less so on Roco / Fleischmann but if you register with them, each time you log-on, further discounts apply across the board. In addition, a bonus sytem is generated on each purchase giving further discounts. Shipment to UK in normally 48 hours for which the cost for purchases over 100 euro was 7.90 euro last time I used them. Unlike most online retailers, they have a free return courier service for faulty items. Packaging is first class and costs 1 euro (including a small sachet of Haribo friut gums). Website is informative with english option for most sections plus english replies to emails and phone calls are standard. I am hard to please but yet to find fault in over 4 years regular custom.

Thanks for the above comments. I think the illustration (which can be downloaded as a pdf) is meant to be historic, so probably 1950's to 1960's. There were frequent West Coast diversions for electrification works around that time but Leipzig ? The intriguing question is why Trix / Marklin opted to use that historically inaccurate picture containing a BR loco as a setting for the Br03 in their new catalogue.

TRIX New Items 2016 catalogue, on page 8, has an artist's impression of German Br03 4-6-2 at Bw Halle shed outside Leipzig. In the adjacent track is Britannia 70013 "Oliver Cromwell". As this would have been some 35 years before the Chunnel and while Leipzig was behind the iron curtain, the only possible explanation for Olly's presence is the former Hornby Minitrix Britannia which probably shared the 03's underpinnings. But why use this mythological picture in 2016 ?
