  1. I've sorted the issue out. You need to have a push button in every slot on the alpha switch board for the encoder to work. Bit strange because I now have 4 redundant buttons inside the control panel but atleast it is working. I tried to call them Saturday but it said there phone line was closed.

  2. I'm trying to link three alpha encoders together to run the alpha switch system with digital IP motors with a sniffer power supply. Only the encoder connected to the sniffer is changing points, the other two are connected with the input output plugs but will not change any points. can anyone help?

  3. I've just seen in the latest issue of Hornby mag a sample of the new tooling FGW fag packet mk3 and it appears the lining is a waterslide transfer again. It's not sitting down properly over the raised detail and looks awful. Hornby please stop using waterslide decals. Even Lima managed tampo lining and looks far better.

i'm sure the first batch were water slides. I only know this because my garage roof leaked and soaked the coaches, the transfer all started coming away.

I've had a look at my original batch ones and they are definitely tampo printed. They have no carrier film around the edges of the lines.

  5. Just had a look at the new FGW mk3 coaches and it appears Hornby have used waterslide transfers for the dynamic lines and they've not been applied very well at all. They are wonky and have carrier film silvering.

Dare I say maybe they over painted some not so good sellers already at the factory?

It's a possibility. The ground level door lock appears to be green which I don't think these had. Shame really. Looks pretty awful. Maybe another round of re bodies from Hornby?  And there has been a price increase on these too.

  7. Does anyone know if Railtec produce suitable transfers for the Plasmor PNA/POA wagons?

I am 3D printing a conversion kit to make the Plasmor block train but cannot find appropriate data panels or the Plasmor logo.

  8. I'm looking for a set of four side grills for the Hornby class 31. Specifically the ones shown in photo.

    Cheers

I've had the same problem with a V5 decoder and stay alive and found the answer on a Australian forum and the following worked for me:

    CV315 - 0

    CV31 - 16 CV32 - 0

    CV315 - 0

    CV339 - 31

This is very similar to Rob above, but I was told to do cv315 - 0 twice (for some reason).

No idea why ESU don't tell you to do this !!

    Stay safe,

    Neil

I’ve tried these CV’s and it now works a treat. Thank you all for your help with this. It was driving me mad trying to figure it out.

    cheers

  10. Those are frog wires and are only needed if you are going to use micro switches to change the polarity of the power in the crossing of the point. They can be used on analogue or dcc. They just stop small locos stalling on the point.

  11. I have fitted an ESU Loksound V5.0 decoder with one of there power pack keep alives and it doesn't seem to be storing any power. I have tried the power pack on another decoder and it works fine. Are there any cv's that need adjusting to get it to work?
