  1. Hi Well I don't fully understand what I did but I followed your suggestion and turned Railcom off and the loco started working. Unbelievable. I wouldn't have thought of that in a thousand years so thank you so much and to everyone else who took the trouble to respond.
  2. Thank you Phil for responding. I obviously have far more to learn than I thought.
  3. Thanks for responding. You are correct in your assumption. I will try your suggestion as long as I can find out how to do it.
  4. Thanks for responding. It is factory fitted and I cannot find any details regarding the make of the sound decoder. Research on line suggests that Bachmann use Loksound. Interesting piece of info re: the ESU Cab control. Thanks for that too
  5. I have a real conundrum of a loco that will not respond. It doesn't make sense and I wonder if anyone has encountered a similar problem. I switched from using a Lenz Digital Plus to Piko SmartController about a year ago. My 15 locos ( some with sound) all made the transition to the new system and i have encountered no problems. Until that is I decided to buy a brand new loco - Robinson Class J11 (GCR 9J) 64377 BR Early Emblem – DCC Sound & Weathered recently. This loco refuses to work on my layout. All my other locos work satisfactorily and I have done all the normal checks such as change tracks, reset #3 checked that a consist has not been set up etc. I have also tested it on a separate track ( away from my layout) using the Piko controller but with no success. I have a seperate programming track and the loco responds to Read and Write. I decided to test the loco on a piece of track using my old Lenz system and it worked!! I even tried programming it on the Lenz track to see if that worked as all my other locos had been programmed on that system but that made no difference. I am not a expert on DCC but know enough to get around but this has got me flummoxed. Obviously these tests show that the loco works so it must be the Piko system. Any ideas please?
