  1. Most of the model railway items that I purchased in the early 1980s were consigned to storage when I had a major career change. Now that I am retired, I have started unpacking those long forgotten 40 year old boxes and it would appear I have a complete set of this train control system that was made by Philips and marketed by Wrenn. As far as I can make out from my limited ability to read German, it is "an analogue multi-train control system, enabling multiple trains to be operated on the same track all controlled by different sound frequencies. The basic device is the EH 3000, 4 amp transformer which is sufficient for 4 trains. A separate controller and receiver is provided for each train. The controllers have a switch for changing the direction of travel and a slider for speed adjustment. The controllers can be used together or separately to enable the system to be operated by several people." I think I bought it to replace my then standard Hammant & Morgan controllers but things changed rapidly before I got round to it. Is it any good? Or is it just antiquated junk?
