It would be nice to see a photo of the royal saloon .

I wonder if it might be possible to have wish list of any models people want, in particular coaches and railcars.

The photo is coming. I just need to file down the bogie mounts as they raise the body a little higher than expected.

Perhaps start a specific Recreation21 thread with a poll of companies or carriages...? The most popular ones get produced. I'll go for anything LSWR and pre-1930 myself. Also S&DJR too - and those carriages are a real collection of odds-and-ends by 1930!

I will add it to the list, I'm all for odd or unusual things that would never otherwise be modelled. I'd certainly love to get to a point where I'm able to model up something like that.

I think a large number of modellers will be happy to see you reach a point at which you're able to model something like that! But starting with wagons and coaches wouldn't be a bad thing either. There are many gaps in the market there, and probably some good, fairly basic detail to get your teeth into.

It's all very exciting, and can only get better/cheaper too. And I'm quite open to ideas for future prints!

I certainly won't hold you to it, especially while you're still at the learning stage, but I'd love to see a superheated Drummond L12 loco body to fit a Union Mills T9 chassis in N. One for the future perhaps.

I could also guarantee many Southern fans who'd be happy to see one of several carriage diagrams that almost certainly won't be available any other way.

  4. I love the promise being offered by 3D printing. I've long been after different loco bodies for existing N gauge chassis, but right now I'm into the last stages of painting and detailing a 3D printed ex-LSWR royal saloon in N, and I have to say it's looking pretty marvellous. It'll certainly never be available through any manufacturer as it was withdrawn in the early 1930s, so 3D was the only way to go.

Before you know it there will be quite a crowd in this thread offering you hints and tips. I'm following around half a dozen similar threads right now, and everyone seems keen on making it work.

I have a reluctance to approach hobbyists though out of a fear of intruding and causing them extra work. I also do not know many people on her very well yet. Introductions would be very welcome!

Sem, another LSWR milk van customer here... all in good time of course, I've a few other things to build first.

Me too, but the odd nudge in the 'right' direction can't do any harm, and it shows what kind of market there may be for certain items. Mind you, I also have quite a few projects already under way or in the queue...

Sorry to hear that - I'm not really up to speed with what is and is not available in N - perhaps 3D printing might offer some answers?

    Tony

There's the Union Mills wide-cab T9 with 6-wheel tender in N, which comes up quite well when lined and detailed. There's also the underpowered Dapol M7.

With a bit of hacking the T9 could produce an L11 even if the wheels are a little large, but there's no fully acceptable watercart available, or any other type of Drummond tender loco. 3D is definitely a promising way forward though, and I'm keeping a close eye on developments.

There certainly seems to be a lot of interest in LSWR stock.

I looked at the Loddon L11 before finding he Martin Finney kit:

Thanks for your kind comments and continued support.

Same here, but modelling in N gauge means there's even less choice available. Especially for Drummond fans.
