That is truly gorgeous Rob. If you produced locos at the same rate as carriages, then I'm sure we could run all pre grouping. Maybe aim at that for next year - I’ll repaint a couple of mine!

Thank you Andy, I hope to concentrate this next year on Loco building to build up a bit of stock as im a bit lacking in this department! You have some cracking stock Andy so can't wait to see that :)

  2. Working up more coaches, and wagons for running at Kempton Park on the first of June! ESMRC is debuting Smithfield, our O gauge surburban Terminus layout build by the club, a mixture of GNR, LBSC, and GER stock will be running from pre-grouping to early grouping so a bit of a mixture! If I had my way it be all Pre-grouping ;)

Great Eastern 6 wheel Holden stock, still requires decals and slight weathering to finish off! Its going to be a long weekend!

Great job on the signal box. I will have to see if I can revise my 4mm models of Rowfant and Grange road boxes to show a couple of windows in the open position.

    Keith

ps done on a FDM printer windows may well be done in resin.

Those look great Keith, I have to admit i am a sucker for open windows a lot of my coaches all have open top lights, i think it adds some visual interest and detail to the models personally!

  4. I thought I would build a little backdrop board to make photographing my O gauge models a little more interesting, plus I felt like modelling something a little different also!

Still very much work in progress, and I have yet to decide what colour ballast to use, if anyone has an ideas I would be grateful? Currently i'm thinking grey, but with some washes to help tone it down a little!

Walls are 3d printed on the creality ender 5 plus, and the signal box is based on Crawley, and older model I 3d printed a while back and had kicking about. It still needs finishing, with an interior, glazing and some weathering, but I figured I would incorporate it into the little scene to add a bit of visual interest to the scene!

Seems strange they would go to the effort of a white roof and yet leave the cab front black.

    richard

I know, but in reality that cab roof wouldn’t be white for long! Once I have done some weathering tests on my earlier j69 I will attempt it on this! It is way too clean right now!

  6. Been a while since I posted anything! House moving malarkey is getting nearer and nearer!

however in the meantime building this little baby onto a Dapol O gauge Terrier chassis has been keeping me saneish!

Great Eastern Railway E22 or J65 if you prefer your LNER/BR eras!

taken on Smithfield the clubs layout!

  7. Update on the Smithfield station facade!  lots of modelling still to do, especially inside the building

    !

We are hoping to model a partly  cutaway station with ticket halls, waiting rooms, and I couldn't resist adding a Victorian Gents in one of the side wings!!!

I have lots of extra bits to model including furniture, fireplaces, toilets/urinals, stairs, ticket offices etc!

The floors are going to be made from coffee stirrers for floorboards, and joists.

The roof will need some figuring out, but so far this building is in 3 parts, the roofs will add a further 3 sections, and all the interior details will be resin printed so as to get better detail, whilst this shell will be FDM

That is eye-wateringly beautiful! I adore the L77s, and it's such a shame only one ever carried GER blue. Amazing work! 👌

Thank you although i got some much needed help from my fellow club members notably  @thegreenhowards Who suggested the N7 in the first place be a good fit for the Dapol jinty chassis, and who helped get the chassis and body to fit so thanks Andy

Is that the J65? Looking good.  I thought you couldn’t print when it’s cold!

Well spotted sir! It is indeed the J65 or E22 has I will be building it!

As for printing so did I, but the printing of the station facade using the large FDM printer has generated enough warmth to keep the studio heated apparently and she printed very well. I will bring it along to the club tonight for a gander!

  10. I stick my build plate on my fdm printers build plate and warm it up that way! If you have an fdm printer it is a quick way of heating up the build plate as I find they get too cold in the winter months, and as mentioned can have a cooling effect on the resin when submerged into the resin!

I need to look into heating as its pain not being able to print consistently over the winter months! Njee20 you heat the vat as well with a heat gun, im wondering if I can whack that on the creality ender 5plus build plate as well to heat it up, though I think the anycubic vats aren't metallic, and may not hold the heat as well!
