  1. Keep Fri 21st Dec free as our montly model rail social drinkies night will be having their Xmas 'pi^! up' I mean social drinkies night from 7pm. All welcome Held as usual at THE LONDON THEATRE, 443 New Cross Road, New Cross, London, SE14 6TA from 7pm to really late. 2 mins from New Cross BR and on bus routes 53, 453 and 177 Cheap bar with Meantime lager and we have the whole venue just for us. Usual suspects will be there Great night to come and talk model railways and some times it kicks off big time.
  2. Well done everyone who came and exhibited and traded. Total adults through the door was 710 plus lots of kids so we gotta be near the 900 persons altogether which was great to see and kept 'Small and Working', Windmill Hill and 'A Load of Balls' busy all day with the kids. Our two catering girls sold our our entire stock of 150 hotdogs, so they were kept busy also, Thank you also for the two small layouts donated, one already is earmarked to go out today to primary school once we re-DCC it and get a controller and buying a small seconhand N gauge loco and coaches for it. Speaking of which will have a interesting week on ebay picking up as many secondhand controllers as possible, our waiting list for roundy layouts will be getting a nice surprise from Santa this xmas, well hope to have bult at least three by the weekend to go out and more next week. Great also to pick up some new members and also one of our exhibitors wants to come on board so means we can do more visits. A few cock up's like one layout not working as ABC models forgot to pack their controller and the moment I took a representive for the 'Men In Sheds' charity to see the debut and impressive 'Cecily Road' as soon as I said, 'This is one amazing layout with all the sounds and lights' The power failed on it. Lucky I managed to redeem myself my telling him 'Actually this is sH'T'. so I saved face, lucky it was a simply points outage and Steph soon had it up and running again a minute later much to everyones amusment. By the way it was the one he liked most along with the O gauge 'Allo Allo' themed one with Rene at his Cafe. Steve Rogers setting up the 24ft Adapatus the wrong way the night before so it faced it's own club secondhand stand instead of the public, lucky I spotted this early or that would have been weird but also very funny the next day when we opened. Easy show to run with just the four of us, Larissa and Emma on catering and Shannon and I on the door with everyone setting up and striking their layouts on time and me at the end of the day, pretending to panic, telling exhibitors that the man with the Titanic exhibition has just crashed his car in the car park, then the look of concern on their faces until I told them, he has just hit a iceburg. I think Colin from the 00 gauge Assc fell for the same joke twice. Planning now for next year and also our summer show in Sevenpoaks.
  3. Extra trader GB Models added to the list - static grass experts. If our carpark is full when you arrive, there is 2 hour free parking at Asda next door. BR trains are also running a good service to Bexleyheath station which is 15 min walk away or 5 min bus ride. Please remember there are excellent bus connections direct to central Bexleyheath (Asda Stop). Please use the postcode for the Graham Road entrance which is behind ASDA, once in our car park, we are situated at the far end in two big halls, past GOALS.

Please we ask that those who attend last month do not block the toilet again and to use the wash hand basins just for washing hands and please if one of those who attended last time could return the stuffed cat which was on our shelf and wash off 'Fine Scale are *****'s' painted on our outside wall. We have CCTV and we know you u are! We will once again remain open late or until it is time to try and get Paul home, whatever is sooner. The entertainment is booked for about 9pm when 'The Bish' usually turns up and falls down the stairs. We have also had complaints from 'The MILLWALL FANS NO ONE LIKES US GROUP' who meet next door asking us to keep the noise down. SELKENT MODEL RAIL GROUP

  7. Weds 28th Nov 7pm to late - FREE - NEW CROSS, London MODEL RAIL FANS MONTHLY DRINKIES NIGHT Come join Colin, Keith, Derek, Keith, Derek, Colin, Colin, Derek and Keith plus many others we havent mentioned for the monthly Model rail fans piss up. Sometimes it can kick off big time over GWR wheel formations. All welcome, come and chat model railways over a pint. This is now an established night each month (last month a film crew from the BBC came to film it) and great way to chat, meet other model makers and drink (cheapest theatre bar in UK) with Meantime draft lager and numerous bottled ales and of course soft drinks. We have the whole venue to ourselves The London Theatre, 443 New Cross Road, New Cross, London, SE14 6TA bus 53, 453 and 177 stop outside and two mins from NEW CROSS BR. See you all there!
  8. We also have a 3d Printing company just confirmed, who will be printing live all day!
  9. I wrote origional post and was not asking to be let in way early, just a few minutes before opening time if long queues or come down line and sell tickets so at least the first 20 through the door on opening. I myself run 3 shows for our group each year and we insure like many with magnets for our exhibition insurance. Had a look at policy and no where does it state the opening or closing time, only setting up from which you enter a date and breaking down time again entering a date. Checked with the venue also and they just have it as a booking from 7.30am to 5pm on the day and a few hours the night before. The venue we use has 36 hire venues around the UK, so I think they know what they are doing. Also out of interest I checked the insurance for the theatre I own and again, nothing about opening times and public access, in fact as a theatre we advertise the actual show start time, not the time audience allowed into the venue, so not sure if maybe some exhibition managers being a little over zelous and over reading into insurance cover rules. On our Bexleytheath show we pre sale about 80 / 100 tickets before the event and have a general public opening time of 10am and a pre ticket holder entry of 9.45am and those waiting till 10am we go along line and sell tickets. We don't have everyone turning up then, but still a good 20 or so pre ticket holders. If places like the Warley venue have rules about no public access until the allocated time, that is a odd stipulation on their insurance as if considered a construction site, all persons will need to be in hi vis, wear steel toe boots and sign in on arrival and defo no pre trading before opening time to other exhibitors. It would also mean that every van on arrival on the site, which brings most of the layouts and traders must have a back man positioned when reversing into or out of a space, which is a requirement for every commercial based van on any construction site. Only time we have to stipulate an opening time is at our Sevenoaks Model Railway show and that is because we sell booze and it is a licencing requirement. I can't see also the security risk of having cash stolen going down a line, as one person stated, don't think many toerags would be up that early or be anywhere near a model rail show and just as much chance of someone just nicking the cash box at the entry and doing a runner. Totally agree that at busy times like opening times, resources should be put on the door to get people in quickly. Not every show is going to have a queue, I understand that, but those that know they get queues at the start, should really make entry as easy and as quick as possible. From posts I see some already do, while others stick to the minute before anyone sets through the door. If a layout isnt ready at 10am, it wont be ready at 2 mins past or 2 mins to the hour. 2 mins early should get about 10 at least in and a shorter queue.
  10. I never said be let in way in advance, my point was while waiting, why not go down line and sell tickets, give programmes out etc and people do get there early often to pick up the best deals not already sold to exhibitors or other traders exhibiting there. The show I attended a few weeks ago, had about 100 in queue and I got there early as no chance of any parking on site otherwise and maybe open 5 mins early
  11. I attend exhibitions most weekends, sometimes two in a day and noticed at many, the good size numbers of people waiting to get in around opening time, sometimes a long line of attendees. I have run exhibitions myself and please other exhibition managers, why the must start dead on 10am each day. I was at one a few weeks ago, where the ticket sellers actually said 2 mins to go, while 4 of them sat there doing nothing and a we had to stand in line, a very long line. I accept that sometimes exhibits are not ready until near opening time but what is stopping going down the line and selling tickets to the queue and means that maybe the first 20 or so can just walk in when opened and the queue lowers. The winter months are on us and it is no fun waiting outside in the cold, so maybe even if there is a bit of a queue, let us in 5 mins early. Rant over.
  12. Have just edited a new updated list of layouts attending and traders which increases numbers for both.
