  1. Has anyone else had a problem with the controller display? I seem to be losing led segments which is making reading the display increasingly difficult. Fortunately I run it using DCC so only need the controller for programming but could get tricky if anymore go! Cheers Mark
  2. MPaul, any tips on how to stop the QJ throwing rods? This happened on 7127 soon after delivery. Have tried a spot of loctite but keeps on happening. Fortunately not lost the screw (yet). Is 6165 a Bachmann or MTC sample? Mark

  4. Paul, If only they were 2 a penny … my bank account tends to think otherwise ;-) Cheers Mark
  5. Have only just discovered the joys of RMweb so time to add my two pennies worth … I'm focussing on Chinese prototypes around the 2000s and have a portable "exhibition" layout - Ni-Hao - and a running layout in the garage. Neither as grand as Paul Stapleton's Beijiao though. I keep an updated blog at https://nihao87.wordpress.com/ if anyone is interested. Cheers Mark Enderby
  6. It'll be the Riddles one. I seem to remember seeing some gondola wagons designed to match the loco recently but suspect these would be generic and reliveried rather than authentic. As mentioned before, there are some modern KCR locos but in HO … but no stock to match … however some Chinese stock finds its way across the border but again, the scale mismatch is a problem :-( In any case I would have thought the Austerities were gone before the Chinese ran trains over the border. The loco is effectively just a collectors item. Cheers Mark
  7. Suspect my battery was a little run down then as both leds still work with the battery! I do use resistors with the train-tech as they were too bright. Mark
  8. I have a couple of 2-aspect homemade led signals driven off a Train-Tech SC1. One of the green aspects has stopped working. So what's the problem? Have tried several diagnostic tests ... 1) Swapped the aspect connections on the SC1 2) Swapped the signal& connections on the SC1 These had no effect which pointed to a led or wire failure. So I replaced the wire from the led to SC1 ... no change and then tested the LED with a 12v battery and it lit! So the SC1 and led are ok as is the wiring. Am I missing something obvious here? Cheers Mark
  9. Long shot ... Just received my first sound fitted loco (a Bachmann Chinese RM Pacific) that comes with a Digisight 5313 decoder. Unfortunately, am referred to their website for CV details and that is in Chinese. Worse still, using Google Translate shows the manual link to take me to the 5303 one. I need to alter the sound volume. The 5303 manual says CV113 - which is set to 255. Altering this makes no difference. CV63 is set to 008 so guess this isn't the one. Anyone out there using this chip? Cheers Mark
  10. After email correspondence with dcc concepts, it transpires that my problem was a failed relay. You could hear it clicking but it wasn't firing the capacitor. A replacement is on its way ... great customer service Cheers Mark
  11. Have just had a module fail after a year. Currently, got a query out with dcc concepts in case I can do something to breathe life back into it. Tried swapping with another motor which shows the problem lies with the module. Also tried reprogramming ... but no joy. BTW, as I read it, the warranty is only one year replacement. Am I missing something? Cheers Mark
