  1. Please forgive me coming to this string well after the event, but I am not a regular RM Web contributor. Chilcompton Tunnel was built by a friend, and between, him and one or two others we have put together a wide range of trains, based on Ivo Peters books and films, backed up where we can with the formations taken from working timetables between 1958 and 1962. The "Fertilizer Special" stock is mine - the labels came from a variety of sources, including Hollar Models and Sankey Scenics. The aim was to present a train of fitted vans that are all different in some respect. I used some of the colour film I had to replicate some of the vans, as well as quite a few other reference images. I find it much easier to work from a photo than to try and make it up but I must admit that this train did take some time to do. However, all those who know will acknowledge the fact that I generally take my time when weathering. The next step will be to fit "3 link" couplings although I think that fitted stock also had the instanter type as well. This said, it will not happen for a while as the builders are in and I cannot get to my workshop just for the moment. I have also used these labels to represent those that have been "torn off" - put one on a wagon, put a dark wash over the top, and after it has gone off I use a fibre glass brush to "remove" the poster. You can also use a nail or a blunt wooden “coffee stirrer” – I practice on an old wagon that lives in the “drawer of doom”, before going any further! I hope this is useful.
