  1. Not sure how many have come across the 3DK downloadable kits https://www.3dk.ca/ . I stumbled upon them by chance and have been really pleased how they have turned out. They are a bit simpler than ScaleScenes models and don't have the wrap arounds for the cover sheets John does and not as robust (but nothing is!). The models adapt well and look great with lighting. The printable windows have some good detail as well. "Calum" is also great with questions. New release out today: Grand Factory Entrance. In £DK's words The archway and walling is the start of our grand factory complex. We are excited to be working on a series of factory buildings that can be assembled in many different ways but will all compliment each other. They will be released one a time starting in Jan 2018 and are designed to compliment the grand factory entrance. No room on my 6x4 for the wall, but will be seeing how the factory buildings come out. The foundry and small factory look appealing though. https://www.3dk.ca/single-post/2018/01/15/Coming-to-an-Industrial-Estate-Near-You All the kits are useful if you are focused on an early period and am sure lots of opportunity for kit bashing for more modern layouts. NB - they do some HO and O Gauge stuff as well that varies in design. Calum gives instructions for how to resize.
  2. Three years after, but adding another view for anyone else asking. Having done a few Scale Scenes and the free signal box from Smart Models (with the pre laser cut backing) it has to be Scale Scenes. There is more logic to the approach - more thought on how things like walls need to wrap and built in with margin for error for those of us not so expert. Smart Models has been a fairly unsatisfactory experience. I enjoyed every minute of Scale Scenes, but not Smart Models.Scale Scenes may seem less complex but the end result has been much more satisfactory. A little more effort in the pre planning of the modeling design might really help.
