  2. As has been pointed out by Prof. Queensquare the catering is out of the hands of the exhibition organisers and the school itself, it is run by Cardiff Catering i.e. the catering arm of Cardiff County Council who run catering at all Cardiff County Schools. Following a stuttering start when we first started using the school we have developed a good relationship with the Catering Staff employed at the school, rest assured that the complaints voiced will be taken up with the Staff. However ”Gordon Blue” standards cannot be guaranteed.

  3. We have to accept that Railway Modelling like most other things in life is changing, apparently something to do with progress and ‘tinterweb. In the good old days we went to exhibitions to see layouts and buy things from traders who were there in abundance. The layout element still exists but the general traders that will attend exhibitions are getting as rare as hens teeth because they can sell as much, or more, on the Internet without moving from their shop, or in some cases their lounge.

There is a double whammy as attendance at exhibitions generally is falling gradually year on year, and without “punters” traders don’t sell things. If they can be press ganged into attending they will not return in following years if sales are poor.

A trawl through ‘tinterweb will show that a rising number of traders have withdrawn from attendance at exhibitions and others have sold their businesses so the available pool is diminishing.

  4. Brian, IF you are a very good boy you can have a Proper Welsh Cake at The 33rd Cardiff Model Railway Exhibition. The misses says that bake stones are what Welsh Cakes are made on, no wonder you want to change to Bread Pud

  5. Bringing the politics of EM/P4/S4 and their various complications into a discussion on track heights seems a little perverse. The point clearly made by Penlan was that the new EM gauge track, and presumably the points as well, are a different height to the other commercially available track systems. As a result getting the top of the rail level, and incase the point is clouded by the politics, that’s what your stock runs on, means that some careful packing will be required somewhere. So it’s not a universal system.

  6. AND after a 2 year holiday in Deepest Darkest South Wales, the Preston Cup will be coming home. It’s lived comfortably in my “toy room” well wrappped up in its shoe box due to the snow last year.

Its making whining noises so I think that it’s pinning for Les. Perhaps it’s hungry, I have fed it Welsh Cakes but it doesn’t eat them !!!!!!
