  1. Good news for everybody but me. I won't be there. I am due to be cut up on the slab on Wednesday (if the NHS don't cancel) so I will be being tended to by nurse Denise. I am sorry to be missing this as it looks like another excellent show.[/quote

LOOKS GOOD !!!!!!! Twill be good, fill your boots

  2. This year`s layouts are a selection of some diverse, rarely modeled railways:-

Ynysybwl - the Taff Vale in 1922 in EM gauge

Ynysafan - the Rhondda & Swansea Bay in OO gauge

Mutton - a section of the L&SWR superbly modeled in OO

Burrard Inlet - Canadian Railways at Vancouver in HO

TGB Metal Recyclers - the latest in a series of layouts by Paul Rolley, BUT this time in O gauge

Another Z gauge German layout from the local specialist in this gauge, Max Jones

Portskerra - the Highland Railway in EM

St. Kenvince - Modern image in Cornwall in OO  with must have China Clay traffic

Clayton Road - a small docks diesel depot in O gauge

Washery Halt - the latest master piece from Wayne Hopkins in O gauge - THIS IS ITS FIRST OUTING

Forrest Gate Parkway- Modern Image terminus in OO

Diano Marina - Italian Railways in HO

Brimscombe - a large steam/diesel era layout in N gauge - we had to have one GWR layout

  3. Sadly, I have to withdraw Eisengebrau. A combination of the severe weather predicted for the east coast and related work commitments (I drive gritters and snowploughs) mean that I have to work this weekend.

    Hope all goes well.

Well just think ..... you have lost a weekend playing trains but gained a weekend of overtime. So apart from paying the poxy tax man you will have some more money to buy extra toys.
  4. Thanks from the Ynysybwl "crew" a good weekend. Our first ever one day show which was very good, cracking layouts and good company. The only complaint was that we were over fed !!! Even our two well established "troffers" were fed to over flowing, its a good job the food stopped at 13.30 !!!!!!  If Portsmouth was not so far from the depths of deepest darkest South Wales we would attend ever year.

    Thanks again

  5. Having sampled Evo-Stik many times over my three score plus years; but never having partaken of Mrs 's wares, I'll have to err on the enjoyment of Evo-Stik.

    .

Of course, one 'bakestone' ( Welsh cake was a term alien to my family ) at the show may sway my taste buds.

I can assure you that the venerable Mrs Oisaeau  makes an exceedingly nice WELSH CAKE and has also produced some additional delicacies. She made these tasties this morning before setting off for a little baby sitting. So provided Mr. Oisaeau can keep his mits off them there will some to taste.

  6. If the Welsh cakes are from the usual source  :sungum:

I shall have to stock up on Brains Dark to take back home, I'm down to my last dozen bottles.

'Rev James' a regular on tap in our Legion though.

The Welsh cakes, now a feature of all Exhibitions where Cardiff 4mm Group are in attendance will be from the normal source (i.e. The Ferret) supplemented by additional supplies lovingly baked by Mrs Oisaeau. Much nicer than evostik  up your nose

  7. I do believe that the Professor is making arrangements for you to devour a tasty curry at the normal curry house on Cowbridge Common. Good beer is available all over Kaardiff as you know. Sadly we will not be able to provide a barrel at the show like we sampled at Aldershot last weekend.

There may just be some welsh Cakes available however

  8. There was an S scale Cambrian a few years ago by John Coulter (I may have got his name wrong - the man from Leicester who always wore a leather jerkin).

Trevor Nunn brought East Lynn in 2009 and John Coulter (sadly now departed but probably playing with the big train set in the sky and converting the angels to S gauge) brought Llanfair in 2012

  9. With less that 2 weeks to go and following the lastest load of hick ups the layouts attending are:-

Dunvant - (Cardiff 4mm Group) operated using the superb LNWR stock built by Sandy Croall

Hardwick Grange -  the 4mm layout from Cardiff Model Engineering Society

Rhydypenderyn - 16mm Garden Railway by Tony Bird

Hope under Dinmore - EM all the way from Portsmouth

Chewton Mendip - another masterpiece from Tim Tinknell

Tucking Mill - 2mm fine scale by the brilliant Jerry Clifford, ably supported by Kim

Llawryglyn - a return of the popular EM Cambrian layout by Richard Loydall

Sherton Abbas - A spectacular O Gauge built by Dave Stone on its first public outing

Blue Circle Tarmac - OO Gauge Quarry by (Mr Prolific) Paul Rolley - is this the last before defection to O Gauge ??

Z Gauge layout by Max Jones - continuing his development of the miniture

Abercynnon Fach - OO gauge favourite by Brian Tucker

Roundhouse - N gauge American loco shed, first phase in the development of a larger layout - watch this space

Flintcombe - P4 by the East Dorset Gang of Four

There will also be 11 traders and 12 Demos and a stand with superb dioramas by the Military Fighting Vehicles Association
