Cool! How did you make the sides for the Inspection Carriage? Are they brass or plasticard or... something else?

That 08 looks great too. And don’t lose that twenty you left on the side!

The sides are plasticard. 80though filed and sanded to  a curve.

    and thank you....

  2. Work has halted on the model railway, and the layout and stock have gone into secure storage whilst building works take place...

Work should be finished - time allowing within the next month. Next jobs are raising and levelling the floor, and then electrics followed by rendering and plastering....

Rather like Big Jims Thread - The garage will be wrapped around in kitchen units , with space for workbench and multi levelled layout above....

The next layout wont be started till next year... but in the meantime will give me time finish of a modern scene.... which will then either go in storage or up for sale....

Also the garage conversion will make room for my other hobby/interest Custom Replica Railway Signs , Vinyl Graphics and Custom photo gifts.

  3. What a brilliant collection of Models.

I love coming in to Trains4u , definitely one of the biggest second hand sections in multiple scales on display.... as well as lots of new shiny goodies.

    Prices very reasonable too!

Cant recommend enough the additional services Trains4u offer DCC/Resprays/Weathering and repairs.

Gareth and Steve run a real gem, and a great asset to the East of England in the way of a model shop.

John and Mark on the shop floor are always polite and helpful, and very knowledgable being enthusiasts as well. Mathew often found hiding upstairs ,or on the layout workbench....  is. real asset with his wealth of railway knowledge and modelling skills.

The shop also have some very useful contacts - Ive had a baseboard built in the past, and wiring assistance.... i believe the chap also does track laying and scenics.  The brillaince of this is he offers homevisits. They have card with his details in the shop - Bet you cant go in without buying anything.....

They also have an eBay store which i have purchased from on several occasions.

  6. Today has consisted of several small jobs being completed. More static grass added to both boards. Ive gone for a spring green, with a mix of a wheaty coloured static grass to tone the green down a little.fullsizeoutput_25f.jpeg.3a153fb6e0c95af1c7a5bb550f023ea8.jpegA gravel walkway between the tracts 2 +3 can be seen in an overgrown state. Scratchbuilt buffer stops ,put an end to the sidings. Fueling module in place.

The track and ballasthas also received a dark wash, and once i get the airbrush out will add a more general track grime effect. The dark wash looks darker than what it will be as it currently still drying.fullsizeoutput_25d.jpeg.ac55ec13a94ad2ab41cb81e7b1359514.jpeg

After giving the track a once over with a rubber , I then had a very short play with some of the stock.

NR 57305 Enters the fuelling siding with Mk1 Generator Coach making up a very short train, to the nearby NR Siding where it shall make up a larger train.

    Next days modelling jobs are

Laying track for traverser fiddle yard and wiring up.

    For the future;

    -Lineside Junk

    -Signage

    -Adding imperfections to the grass.

-Painting scenic break boards and installing.

     and a million other jobs.....

    Thats all for today.

I hope in the next week or so to film a few running videos showcasing some of the sounds and beefed up speakers. I will be uploading them to the facebook page.
