the loco looks like that Finnish loco restored near windsor…

Chimney, Cab roof, windows, boiler dome and cylinders look like it.

it is just about the only LNER green loco Hornby hasnt yet done, and definitely ticks the oddball box.

I can only image the floods of grief on here if that was Hornbys loco of choice for 2024…., especially if the model came with the folks in the tender…

    😛

    What about the B2?

I'm not sure that excuse really holds water.

IIRC, Hornby's lit Pullmans predated the Gresley stock, are at least the equal of Bachmann's Mk1s, and avoided the howlers incorporated into the Gresleys.

The 1928 Flying Scotsman set would be OK for those modelling the ECML at the right period. However, the formation had been split up and was randomly (and thinly) spread around other duties by BR days.

The "typical", including stock that ran to/from destinations off the Eastern Region, is what will get more of us reaching for our wallets.

I think ‘howlers’ is a bit strong.  If an LNERophile like Tony Wright can miss the errors in an initial review, then I suspect the rest of us would too, at least until some helpful soul pointed them out.  Errors notwithstanding, I still think they look the part, particularly side-on at layout-viewing distance.  And the need for CKs and BSKs can be filled by Bachmann Thompsons - mixing the two types was common enough, at least in BR days.  I certainly won’t be replacing my twenty or so Gresley at today’s prices.

  3. They’ve got themselves in a real mess with their original Gresley coach releases. I’m sure a lot of us who bought those in numbers despite the tumblehome and beading issues would like a Composite and Brake Third added to the range, but only - almost perversely - if those errors are persisted with. If corrected, they’ll look all wrong alongside their predecessors.
That wouldn’t be a problem with the Stanier coaches though, where a CK would fill a yawning gap.
