Rails stated yesterday that Heljan had told them that the models have been sent. Whether that means from Denmark or a local distributor though, probably makes a huge difference as to whether it will be a few days or a few weeks.

This morning I collected my saved copy of Hornby Magazine from my local newsagents. Needless to say I went straight to the Heljan 86 review - and all I can say is wow! The close up photo over pages 114 and 115 is simply stunning. I haven't looked forward to a model release as much as this one for a long time- very excited!
Bought a copy myself and see what you mean! Looks great.

Rails now advertising they will be in stock 'soon'...
Has that changed I thought it had said for a while? Heljan said shipping to shops in the first week of April so assume they have them or will do very shortly.

How is end of March looking? I'm guessing customs are still slow, either because there is a backlog or they are playing trains.....

As an aside which of the DRS ones are running on the current railway in the depicted livery?
Someone may correct me but I gather it is 37602 and 37423. 37609 now has ploughs and yellow WIPAC's but is stored.

On another boring lockdown Sunday, I've managed to convince myself that I need these and ordered........Still, it's only money!

That sort of thing doesn't stop anybody else announcing and proceeding with models.
The complete silence suggests that there is more to this, but why is anyone's guess.

Are you still expecting decorated samples in March?

Hi Rob,
We have indeed taken option B as it is the only workable solution to keep the body shape prototypical and allow the navigation of 2nd radius curves minimum. Prototype sized wheels can be fitted but you are looking at being limited to 4th radius curves at the very least. Unfortunately there isnt enough layouts out there with such generous curvature to launch a mass market model and have it succeed from a sales POV, so we had to offer a workable compromise. Since so much of the wheel is behind the bodywork on the real things however it's barely noticeable on the model, but can be changed if you have generous curves and the desire to of course!
Cheers!
Fran
This is from page 41 if you want to read the rest. Essentially the wheels are undersized by a little bit.

Looking at some pictures online, you are correct, also looks like the cantrail should go in the middle of the white above the door not above it.

You realise I am still working now because I spent most of the afternoon jumping back to your website and refreshing in nervous anticipation? And now I am an hour behind with what I should have been doing lol
Good job they didn't put more pictures up or you'd be later and worse still doing overtime to pay for orders!

Stunning is the only word for it, I can't pretend that I know enough to pore over in fine detail.....but it looks like a Deltic to me!
I wonder how many Purple Monsters you'll sell in the next couple of days?

Even just that one picture made me go wow! Might finally order one when they all finally all get revealed.
I did the same, if that is a genuine livery sample photo it is going to be an incredible model.

In these tough times little highlights like this are what keep me going. Looking forward to seeing the deco samples, something to look forward to this week!

They could be awaiting a production slot at the factory before making a formal announcement.Could be, but you'd have thought they would provide some sort of update. Otherwise risk people spending their budget on something else.

Surely someone from Rails must be reading this thread? It has been 8 months now, surely you can either put us out of our misery or tell us how we can help promote the model?

Ordered a full set of the things in a rush of blood (and at the time heavy wallet) last year. Looking very smart, seems it was a good decision!
