  1. 47 702 on the 2000 to Glasgow Q S on 15 June 89. 37 153 at Millerhill half an hour later. Hope to get scanner functioning tomorrow, although the photos are not great quality to begin with. The disappointments when I opened those envelopes from Boots...
  2. 47 707 Waverley. 29 May 89 08 881 Waverley. 15 June 89 47 631 Waverley. 15 June 89 at 1950 ready to take parcels South on ECML.
  3. Advent day 2. 47147 departs Millerhill at 1745 on 29 May 89. Headed for Thornton Junction?
  4. 37167. Millerhill. 9pm on 250589. Domestic coal service from the south. Headed for Gartcosh? And 26025. Same time and place. Headed north with just a couple of brake vans.
  5. Ace detective Gordon C. It was 37 418, my only sighting of it according to my record which has the full story including ID of the power car - 43 056. Here's 37404 on the Royal Scotsman in July 89. ED 37s in large logo blue, intercity (mainline) and three tone grey all seen at Waverley with the Royal Scotsman that summer. As you can tell, I was familiar with Waverley in the late 80s and Waverley West's layout is beautiful in its own right, but also brilliantly captures the atmosphere of the real thing.
  6. Waverley July 89. Not great quality, but a modelable short train formation, failed HST a green visitor (47 628). Thought may be interest to Waverley West even if two are East enders.
  7. Noting your attempt to determine when it was repainted, I spotted 37 239 at Milerhill on 14 Jan 1990 in railfreight coal livery. My record notes it as looking "ex works". Spotted at same location on 4 Feb 90 and noted as "dirty".
  8. Ok, these are photos of photos, but if of interest I could scan these and more like them when I get my scanner fitted up. Mainly Edinburgh area in late 80s plus early 1990. The two shown are the Sunday petfood train resting at Millerhil before heading on to Glasgow.
  9. Sunday engineering works as the line between Fensterbach and Bad Oberstdorf is ballasted before the train returns to Fensterbach where the ski slope is deserted. Hopefully snow fall next weekend and some fast growing trees.
  10. Slow progress. Planning a snowscape is more complicated than I thought. Basic structure nearly done though. Pencil point control operational; cheap and functional.
  11. Yes N gauge. One day I'd like to have something like the space you have and reflect the ECML near Edinburgh in the late 80s: HSTs, 37s and 47s on Speedlinks and 26s on MGRs. Keep up the good work.
  12. Work has focussed on Fensterbach. I forgot how slow this can be when you're trying to make it look right. And then there's the issue of redoing parts to accomodate requests from youngsters. The goods shed (which looked over-scale anyway) has had to make way to allow space for the end of a ski run (yet to be started).
  13. Of course Fensterbach may get priority as it's intended as a winter scene which will help to disguise the set track I am using up. Merry Christmas.
  14. Thanks Nimbus. It's more inspired by the real place rather than intended to be in any way accurate. Hence the bad. One of the reasons I chose to model overseas was that I can be blissfully ignorant of all my inaccuracies. Progress likely to be slow until Christmas hols. Thanks for the tip about the article.
  15. I had to buy some of these even though I don't have anywhere to run them right now. Many a Sunday late afternoon visit to Millerhill coincided with the petfood train passing through. Sometimes the up and down services passed each other in the yard. And if you afraid of weathering some were clean. For one run anyway. Thanks guys. Products are great. Cartics anyone?
  16. Work in progress. First scratchbuilding in over 25 years. Fun, but easy to lose track of the time.
  17. My interest in railway modelling was rekindled by a trip to Italy about ten years ago. In the years since then I have built up a collection of German, Austrian and Swiss N gauge stock, but thought Italian stock did not really exist. Then I stumbled upon: http://www.locomodels.it/index.php/ Although expensive I have rarely been so tempted. Does anyone have any experience of them?
  18. Not sure what to do with this now. Some point motors to allow operation from the sofa would be an appealing development to prevent tail chasing like this: There is now a horse field at the window at the request of younger son, but it can't be seen in the video.
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZt8dSFtMp4 Built really just to watch the trains go round. I was shelving the room anyway and wondered what would be feasible. Not sure that scenery will be added other than on the main area, but an engine shed has been assembled since this was filmed. Hopefully it shows what can be squeezed in with a bit of thought, some wood, a circular saw and a hole cutting drill attachment.
