More trains and more pics will come as we work on different elements of the layout.
In the meantime, here is something that we don't usually run - a Heljan Virgin 86!

I may not post as often as I should, but I direct all readers to this thread to see the amazing new Eastgate cartoons:
There is a new one done by our group leader every week!

Looking good as always - totally not a member of this layout!

The open day was a success! Some pictures...
Another general view of the station area.
Class 90 fest! My weathered Hornby one is in the foreground, with SprinterMan30's 2 Bachmann Class 90s in the background.
Class 37s and 67s ruled the 'Spinner' loco hauled services, both as DMU replacements and as football extras.
Finally, a 2 car Pendolino! This is why SprinterMan30 should not be in charge of rolling stock...
Thank you to all those who attended. It was a lovely day.

Another featured layout will be Twickenham MRC's new current era D&E layout - EASTGATE.
Twickenham club is very PRO D&E and wants to promote and nurture D&E modelling. But it's a chicken and egg situation - we need to attract D&E modellers in order to build the large ambitious D&E layout we would like to have. So we've started small to show our commitment to D&E modelling and it has begun to attract more D&E modellers to the club so that hopefully the next D&E layout will be bigger.
If YOU are a D&E modeller why not come to our Open day on July 13th and bring along some of your models to run on Eastgate - DC only at present - we're a very friendly lot!
Here is a photo of Eastgate under construction - come and see what it looks like now this Saturday!
We hope to have some diverse rolling stock in operation as well. It is our first open day since we had the platform added!

Apologies for the lack of updates, but we are working very hard behind the scenes.
Eastgate station now has an island platform! Once other works have completed, the backscene will be built (currently in progress), allowing for the station building to come into place.
The following pictures were taken on the 22nd June at Twickenham Library:The information board for events, including maps and our 'Eastgate Folk' cartoons created by our group leader!
2 Class 153s await their next passenger duties at the station whilst 68008 stands in the sidings. All 3 models are mine.
A general overview of the station board with DMUs working local services.
All photos are my own.
Thank you for reading!

This layout looks brilliant so far! Can't wait to see the progress!
I also intend on modelling the WCML in the Watford area.
-
I like this idea! Gives my 68 something to pull bar random Mk3s.

Sorry for the recent lack of updates but we have made good progress! We were on the baseboards, then the track laying and now finally the point motors! Pics and further updates can be seen on the facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TwickenhamMRC/

Could someone confirm are the factory fitted decoders fitted in the 68s RailCom compatible.
Hi,
I do not know which decoder was used in the DCC fitted version. However, I have found that ESU do a RailCom transmitter unit suitable for an ESU V4 decoder..

I hope this helps.

Interesting - would you recommend them?
Yes - I would recommend them! They are easy to assemble and great to knock up a layout quickly. I am even considering using them on my home layout!

I hope this helps.

Looking nice, a definite follow!
How long are the platforms and how many units does it fit?
(I assume the whole 4 car class 350 fits on?)
The platforms are long enough for a Class 150 or Class 350 in a 4 car formation or a Class 158 or Class 170 in a 3 car formation. I hope this helps.

May I ask if you made those baseboards from scratch of if you bought them 'flat pack' from somewhere, and if so, where?
These are 'flatpack' baseboards from Model Railway Solutions that we are using on the Eastgate layout.

Apologies for the lack of recent updates, but lockdown means I finally have time to share pics of the latest happenings on the layout, prior to the temporary closure of the club a few weeks ago.
The lift tower mockup in place alongside the footbridge that will lead to the station facilities.
The mockup of the platform building and canopy as well as the staircase.
My GWR 153 was used for scale purposes.
Keep well with all that is happening.
