Hello All,
I'm considering building a 3 x 6' TT layout as a nostalgia trip to my youth - my first railway was TT with East German BTTB trains etc....
Has anyone tried using a mix of Hornby & Tillig track together ? They appear to be exact copies of each other. Reason I'm asking is I'd like to utilize the Tillig curved turnouts with my plan, but don't want any surprise issues.
Cheers,
Felix

Great to have you visit the other day my friend😀. It was nice to actually have the trains running this time. The weather is on the change which means I'll be able to get cracking with some new baseboards and hopefully next time you come we'll be able to really get the layout working properly. I'll be glad when the day arrives when I don't have to deal with firewood! The other day I was chopping "madrone" and mis-judged my aim with the axe. A sizable chunk flew off the chopping stump and landed on my big toe joint. Corner first😩. That put a hold on the Queensbury scenic push!
It was a fun visit, you have a superb railway, can't wait until my next visit. I've taken your suggestion and have finished my load for the LMS bolster wagon. Here's a photo of the finished wagon. One of the things I enjoy most about modelling in O is building wagons. I must move up and work on a loco kit soon, if only time will allow ! Sorry to hear of the madrone incident, ouch. It'll be nice to be out of Winter and have some sunshine. You are always welcome to visit the BBR. I hope to put the lumber you gave me to good use tomorrow !
Cheers, Felix

GWR 45xx Prairie got a run this weekend with the branch goods. Such a lovely model by Dapol. Hard to believe models this
nice are now available in O, and not much more expensive then some of the OO stuff ! A couple favorite wagons in the mix,
including a scratchbuilt LBSC van from 1977, and the typical Peco GWR van which was one of my first kits many years ago.

Looks superb Shaun, really excellent work. The paint job looks good to my eyes. Lovely photos,
I particularly like #3 going over the roadbridge, although #1 at the station is great too.
Can't wait until my next visit. I've been thinking I should build up a OO train to bring with me in future visits to Queensbury,
I'll have to have a think as to what that should be. I'll have a look around the OO kit selections as I rather enjoy kit building
or RTR bashing more then just straight up RTR.
Looks like the weather is going to clear up a bit heading into next week.
Cheers mate,
Felix
P.S. here's one more photo I took of your hopper builds. Nice models.

Super fun visit Shaun. You have built an amazing railway. The expansion plans are very exciting.
Thanks for a very pleasant afternoon, much needed. My mojo has been sparked, can't wait for the weekend
to get some time to work on some projects. Here's just a couple photos I took. Cheers, Felix
P.S. Thanks for the lumber ! I'll be putting it to good use soon.

The MR single plank wagon is now complete. For fun, one side is standard LMS. The other,
lettered for my fictional railway BBR. Time for a suitable load. Back to the workbench.

A Peckett goes about it's shunting duties. Holding up traffic, on a quiet branch line. Somewhere, sometime.

A new year, a new wagon project. It's been quite a while since I've built any rolling stock for the railway, and I've missed it. For a Winter project I selected the MM1 models (former JLTRT range I believe) Midland Railway 20' 6" single plank resin / white metal wagon kit, ref # PWW1. This kit has been sitting on the shelf for years, time has come to enjoy it. I like the variety in goods wagons, and this ones longer length will break up the string of standard wagon lengths nicely, plus an opportunity for an interesting load, perhaps a boiler or a ....... ?

Looks fantastic, really nice job Shaun. The horses are a perfect fit for the dray.
The use of electrical tape is a neat idea that I'm going to explore. never thought of it before.
Cheers,
Felix

First month gone already, where does the time go ? Just a few photos I've taken this month. It's funny, at one time
I was so taken with the idea of timetable operations etc... and now I'm just happy to run some trains after a long day at work !

Just another quiet Branch line goods train, #7711 has the duty today. She's quietly passing through some
fine Somerset countryside. Just another day in paradise. A slower, serene pace of life.

The little Peckett is ready to begin shunting the brewery. The driver will need to proceed with caution by the level crossing. Shunting maneuvers will require several passes. I'm sure the motorcoach operator is thrilled !

Have just read through your topic over a couple of days. What a lovely layout. Looking forward to seeing more.
Most kind of you John. It's my first real attempt at a layout that has made it this far, I'm enjoying the journey.
I've had a quick look over Canterbury Road, picked up a few tips from your post regarding the dock wall construction.
Something that I'm about to tackle on my dock area. Your layout is a neat design, I like it. Will follow with interest.
Best wishes for the New Year from Oregon,
Felix

Is that a Dinky phone box?
S and D Models do a nice market stall in the Phoenix Models range, plus a selection of fruit and vegetables in baskets or trays, should you wish to speed things up. Mind you, my market has also included the Woodland Scenics farmers market set....
Gordon
You got it Gordon, it is indeed a Dinky phone box. One of these days I'll get around to replacing it with a proper one, but I happen to have it in my collection of vintage Dinky toys, so why not use it as a place holder :) Thanks for the info on the Phoenix market stalls, I'll have a look into those. In the meantime, here's an updated view of the village market, with a few figures added, carts from Petite Prop. utilizing vegetable crates from MiniArt (1/35), and cast white metal baskets from Skytrex. Good fun, but I'm ready to get back to building some rolling stock ! All the best.

There's a few like that scattered about in various towns up and down the Oregon coast.
There certainly is ! Although, sadly they're starting to slowly disappear. Fun places to explore.

The windows look really nice, as does the stonework. The Pettite Properties range of 'base' kits are superb.
I've used several for my O scale village. So many things you can do to them to make them into what you'd like.
Some of their accessories are quite handy too.

Holy cow, I haven't posted anything on here since July ! My how time goes by. Work has kept me from doing much.
The village market is slowly being added, some market stalls, baskets of apples and potatoes have been made up.
Lots still to do. A few photos showing GWR branch trains departing. Need to get the Dean Goods re-painted & lettered.
Hoping to get a lot more done on the railway this coming Winter season. Ta Ta

A year after the news about Hornby / Peco introducing TT 120 product lines, I've taken the decision to build a compact layout.
I started off in the hobby with TT, building a small layout in my teens utilizing the Berliner Bahn / Tillig models. (short clip below)
It was a lot of fun, however my main interest lies with British steam, so I soon moved on to building a fictional light railway
in 7mm (Boxer Bay Railway), still under construction and pretty much a life long project in my view.
As much as I LOVE the Colonel Stephens light railways, branch lines and small locos, I do occasionally get the itch to watch
large locos, speeding past with a rake of Mk 1 coaches or long string of wagons. Especially after a hard day at work !
So a small TT railway on the side it'll be. This will be compact and measure just 5' x 32", fitting in a corner of my office.
It will be loosely set in 1950-1960s period, and take inspiration from various favorite locations, mainly the Somerset & Dorset
& Waverley Routes, allowing me much scope to run anything I like, once it becomes available or I build it. The main goal
being to provide a nice scenic setting to watch the trains steam past, nothing more then that. Catch you lineside,
Felix

Hi Les,
Just discovered your layout and have enjoyed catching up reading on the progress / construction.
Thanks for sharing, it's a superb little railway you have.
I had a 3x6' TT layout when I was a teen, BTTB stock etc...Went British O scale and enjoyed building the typical Branch terminus.
However with the new Hornby line of TT models, it jogged my memory of how much fun that first layout was, and I'm heading
back to TT to build a new version of it. So Hornby has gotten another TT convert with me. It is a superb scale for a compact railway.
Looking forward to seeing more developments of Bregstadt.
Felix

A new project in the form of a Connoisseur Models 2 axle coach kit, my first etched brass kit in a decade +, relearning the art of soldering, lots of fun, as typical with Jim's kits, superb instructions, well designed and fun kit to build - so far.
Also been working on the dock wall at Boxer Bay. Tons to do, but it's starting to look like, something anyways :)
All for now.
